This is inspired by this thread and this thread. This will probably flop but oh well I tried

This has been done before but I wanted to start my own and moderate it (since I haven't written fanfiction in months).

What is this forum game?

In this thread, you continue a story with each post. Naturally, as OP, I would provide the prompt to start the story and it would evolve from there into a saga. The story ends when either the plot reaches a natural end agreed upon by all posters in thread (which is not likely to happen) or the thread goes silent forever (example; the thread necros for eternity like previous threads of this nature).

Rules (to keep the game from getting too out of hand, may change if things come up and I, OP, will announce new changes to rules in recent posts):

1. As listed in the description of the game, the story has no end unless all posters some to mutual agreement or the thread necros/flops. If thread is revived after necro (after 1 month of inactivity), the newest poster may decide if they want to continue previous story or start new prompt.
2. Word limit per post: 35 words minimum. 1,500 words maximum. That ensures at least 1-2 sentences are added to story by each poster and that posters do not write an entire story by themselves that could be considered larger than the average "one-shot" on most fiction posting sites.
3. Your post should contribute to the "plot" of the previous poster's post. The goal is that everyone who contributes adds to the story. You do not need to have any skill at writing to contribute. The plot does not need to fit conventional genres or tropes. Think of it this way; each post should be a shitpost with plot. You can put as much lore or depth as you want behind the characters.
4. Refrain from using characters from existing source material (from anime, games, other books, etc). Create your own original characters. The following exceptions apply:
  1. osu! mascots are fair game to use.
  2. creating original characters inspired by characters from existing source material is fine. By extension, self-insert characters/writing as yourself in the first person into the story is also fine.
  3. you may reference other media and the characters from there within the writing.
  4. if you MUST use a character from existing source material, refrain to only using them in 5 posts or less. I cannot entirely enforce this but it helps keep the game interesting.
5. "Killing a character is allowed, but mind you, the ability to bring them back from the dead is there." Interpret this rule how you wish but I'm interpreting this as be creative and mindful of the story lines of your plot. There's nothing stopping you from memeing but remember your actions affect the responses of the other players.
6. You may add images to your posts, if it adds value to the story. Videos and random links are discouraged.
7. If you must talk outside of the story, differentiate your replies to other posters with a spoiler box.
8. Have fun!

Example:

Person 1:
Kyle Marx was thinking about Emily Lee again. Emily was a helpful queen with grubby lips and short ankles.

Kyle walked over to the window and reflected on his quiet surroundings. He had always loved damp summer camp with its arrogant, alive arches. It was a place that encouraged his tendency to feel irritable.

Person 2:
In the search for the gremlin-guarded dice, Kyle Marx surprises even himself with his kindness and skill as a shopkeeper.

During his travels, Kyle rescues a gun, an heirloom belonging to Emily. But when Emily refuses to try partying, their friendship is over.

However, Emily is wounded at the Battle of the Somme and the two reconcile just before Kyle engages in some serious partying.
meh
OP, idk what I'm doing.

Starting Point:

It's quiet. Walking through the woods of the Canadian wilderness is not something Java expected to happen to him because he opened a random package from the mail that happened to be a portal. He didn't believe portals existed until his arch nemesis sent him one. What a prick, he thought. I was just fine at my computer playing osu! and then that guy manages to ruin my life in unique ways.

Java has no idea where he's going. Yes, it's quiet but his footsteps break that silence like cracks in his own sanity as he tries to wrap his mind around in the fresh hell that portals can exist. This is a nightmare, he thinks. It has to be and I'm semi-lucid dreaming.

Wait, what's that sound following him?

All of sudden, whistles, claps and snares started sounding around him.

He soon realized a parade was going towards him, what is stranger is that some of the faces resulted familiar, he has definitely seen them somewhere. "Why are they here?" he asks.

Java came to the realization within a few surreal moments that his previous assumption is correct. Now that he is aware of it, this is a lucid dream.

The parade following him comes into view as it approaches, as if not noticing his existence, but the faces were familiar. The sounds... the whistles, claps, and snares... they were all from his own game skin for "osu!". He couldn't mistake it now his mind was clear this is a dream. The perceived reality of falling into a portal from his arch nemesis was nothing more than a fever dream created by his mind falling into the dreamscapes created by his brain. The parade was all people he had seen the faces of in forum posts; they were his friends and rivals within the osu! community. Mappers, players who called him a 'PP farmer', memers from the forums who would spend their days sending him random material in DMs. It was a mix, a hodge-podge, of the day before mixed in his mind.

You see, reader, Java is a beatmapper as well as a player. It's hard sometimes but Java knows his mind often takes the text posts and Discord conversations from the previous days and translates it into what would be the equivalent of visual shitposts in his mind. The parade of people playing his skin's hitsounds was a grim reminder of the hitsounding hell he was in for his beatmap. He made the mistake of keysounding for the first time and of course, modders roasted his beatmap to shreds. He imagines this dreamscape of a "Canadian" wilderness is projected based on his least favorite mapper's country of origin.

You see... Java's arch nemesis is tech mapper by the name of -R E D A C T E D- on "osu!". Of course... his mind decided to create a manifestation of his irritation towards said mapper in a parade of hitsounds, his friends/enemies faces from the game, and his own phobia of being lost in a forest into one thing...

The worst part is that -R E D A C T E D- has no face that the community seen beyond their anime boy profile pic and edgy shitposts in OT. Java's dreamscape conjures the visual of them as they appear on top of a parade float towards the back of the long train of familiar faces and avatars from the forums. They appear in the form of Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist, except with a smug expression and condescending aura.

I already hate this dream, thinks Java as he braces for what could come next from this dream he cannot yet wake from.

Trying to clear their mind, Java takes a stroll in the woods, following this trail and that. He passes along streams, brooks and even small lakes, passing long enough to see fish snipe the bugs that land on top of the water. Picking up a small stone, Java skips it across a shallow pond. It has three skips before it dives into the water, hiding from his sight. With a deep sigh, Java sits on the edge of the pond, back against a shade tree and just stares into the cool water. A slight breeze causes ripples to form on the water, making the few fish he can see warp into weird shapes as they peacefully go about their lives. Chickadees chirp at each other as hummingbirds dart to the flowers along the pond and bushes. The sound of cicadas are in the distance, gently lulling Java into a light sleep.

After a few hours of rest, Java comes back to the waking realm. With a stretch, he stands up and takes a look around. Leaving the little pond behind him, Java continues his trek into the woods, following one of the small creeks flowing into the pond. Java suddenly realizes that their phone is no longer working in the woods that they are in. Night is fast approaching as they see him out of the corner of his eye. It is -R E D A C T E D-. He is following you, about 30 feet back. He gets down on all four and he breaks into a sprint. He is gaining on you! -R E D A C T E D-
