It'd just be something like, "Careful. If you keep doing that, you might get silenced." It could be driven by reports.
theowest
that might be something we could send to you guys. but it have to be translated and stuff..
so it's basically !faq
which we already have.

Well, if it's a spam stuff, it can be easily done I guess.
It's a Genius idea.
Saten
Send the guy to banchobot so he can't miss the !faq
Foxxu
This would be a really good idea! However, as told already, we need that much of translations...
Maybe we could persuade some people to help? I can translate Dutch ;)

yeah
maybe !faq word + username

Or maybe: !warning word + username
Saten
That's the same as if you used !faq

The !faq word is basically a warning, and most wont understand with just a warning. The !faq word explains it much better

Or do you mean that !warning word + username is basically !faq but differently used?
Well !faq is much shorter to begin with, much easier to use imo.
TheVileOne
!warn is much shorter than !warning.

Why do we even need to type it out? Bancho could do this automatically. If it can silence automatically, it can warn for silence automatically.

it will be done automatically if it's with !faq word + user
Saten
There are many different types of situations
It's not possible for bb to handle them all automatically.

If that were the case, you wouldn't need any moderation.

It auto-silences you if you typed 4 lines within 3-5 sec
It doesn't need to warn you.
ReVeNg3r
faq- freqently asked questions
how is it related with silence?
If ,then i prefer !warn
Kuro
Why would you do something to have a warning sent to you in the first place?

I see this request as a means for spammers, etc. to test BanchoBot and see how much they can get away with before they receive a silence warning which would make it more vulnerable to abuse
XenoWarrior
I never realized that I would get a warning for typing too fast just untill the other day. I got my silence warning without realizing in a private multiplayer game.
This would be really useful! Well, for newer users at least. Now I know that I can get silenced I won't be typing sending too many messages quickly xD
Loctav
Silences are already the warning. I see no point in this feature request.
Saten
Yes.
Get 10 Infringements and you are screwed.

The infringements will disappear after a month or so after you get them.

When someone russian user has 21 h of silence I don't want to give him double doze, but if there were warnings it will be enough for stop doing bad things.
I think this request is a good idea.

How the hell did I get 4 stars
Saten
This request is not about auto-warn

uh...
ok sure why not :?
Saten
Because it's pointless

You only need to make 4 post in a short amount of time, and then you are silenced.
It would just be be a pain in the length if it were to warn you for every 2nd post you made.

The !faq <word> <user> would be better, because it's not always about spamming lines.

Warnings aren't faqs alone.Since we're human beings, we warn manual aswell:

"@Saten please stop posting"

Like so.This is unneeded imo.You have 10 chances which are plenty of warnings.

Exactly, as if saying that nice little message you get at the bottom of your userpage isn't enoughUnless you were a complete idiot that disregards your userpage. Then you would need more than just those 10
ryza
I don't think this is pointless, if you're talking to a friend it's very easy to accidentally get silenced if you rage or something

like after 10 messages "oops you can't talk"

yeah

it would be nice if it would tell you

How the hell are we even SUPPOSED to get 10 infringements if one silence is two weeks long?

Start with silence which is not a week long.
Ask this guy

I'm just going to voice my opinion on this for one second.
A silence is not a warning. A silence is a punishment. A warning tells you that you can be punished.

Again, I don't think silences are warnings. They are the punishments.
Also, I don't think I've seen anyone warn someone like that ever.

You have this as well, you can't really say you dont know the rules, and even if you don't, not knowing the rules isn't reason to not follow them, as they are availaible to you.

Punishment or warning, if you get silenced, you did something wrong, and you need to check your profile to know what you did wrong.

Seriously, I've been silenced for types of "spam" or some shit like that I didn't even know existed. And no, they are not made clear in the rules.
PEOPLE: Either improve the rules or start warning us.

Forum-wide rules

1. Do not spam forums with useless posts, herein defined as posts with no informational value or going grossly out of thread's topic scope.
2. Do not flood forums either. Flooding consists of excessive posting, usually with little value (see spam above).
Looks pretty clear to me :|
ryza
Those are not in-game rules, completely different

IRC rules

1. No spamming/flooding. This is obvious.
This rule?
ryza
Yeah, however it's not lenient enough
I've been silenced for sending a few messages really quickly to a FRIEND (not any of the public channels)

that is just not very fun

Either make it more lenient in private channels or add a warning
Kuro
I would go with making it more lenient in private channels
Sakura
It is already more lenient in private channels (about 10 lines within 1 second or something like that)

This is automatic protection by BanchoBot. Moderators won't silence you.
