i'm bored

background
im old. i do weird maps. im very opinionated. also i probably wont pick your map. just try anyway.
i answer mods in a particular way. my methods are mostly legacy posts from the original modding v1, so expect walls if i want to. i don't really care about kudosu too
here's my cv:
  1. tetsuo
  2. powa of da wildanes
  3. ragnarok
  4. sulfide

how to apply
1. criteria
i have certain preferences when it comes to maps. in particular i look for maps that i think are interesting to look at and explore with. a few factors i consider include
  1. song factors, including music i hate/like
  2. rigor and consistency of the chart
  3. creative expression -- i.e. demonstration of interesting, novel, cool, or otherwise refreshingly-implemented concepts and ideas
  4. mapper experience & prior maps
  5. legacy relations, personal contacts, and personal interest
  6. responses to the application form (see below)

other rules
  1. i'll choose the difficulties to mod.
  2. i only do 4K.
  3. i will actually read your responses, so if you flake on me expect an L.
  4. some degree of proficiency in english is required (cause i might go complex and stuff when i write) but i don't really mind as long as i can understand you.
  5. factors are non-exhaustive and are not equally weighted.
  6. the first three points are considered highly important, however.
  7. application form response lengths need not be super long. in fact if it's too long i probably won't read it.
  8. i don't have m4m.
  9. don't bother me, i'll take my time. how long i take to get to your map roughly corresponds to how much i like it.
  10. no closing or opening, but i'll post here if your map is accepted.

2. application form
fill in the fields below properly in your post. i will not consider applications that have missing fields. i will not reconsider submissions that have the same map & mapper -- the refractory period between posts is subject to my own discretion.

I think I do some sort of rule-based charting.

Coming Down Is Calming Down - Underoath (mapped by Shoegazer) is my favorite map. I like the song it's really fun to play (even if I can't pass it).

I like my map because I feel like I was able to set and follow some simple rules (mostly with the snare/kick doubles). I also enjoy how the song builds, and I think I was able to map that appropriately. I try to use LNs to represent only a single instrument in each section; I feel that limiting LN usage like this makes them feel more intentional. I'm still a new mapper so I'm hoping to learn some things.

describe your style of mapping in 10 words or less: 10 words is not enough for me to adequately describe the nuances of my style (And i always suck at describing myself)

your favorite map and why (30 words or less): (insert own map here) because of the amount of care i put into mapping them. I could list any map and explain my favorite parts of it.

This is a cool mapset featuring Jacks (now with 10% MORE jacks). If there were to be a word to describe this map it would be "jacks". This is the kind of song that when first heard it, i knew i needed to map those jacks. I like the song (even though it seems half of osu hates it) and ranked desperately needs more song variety. And i like how i've mapped it. though im starting to run out of queues to request in and the new normal difficulty needs mods the most :(

Short-Form Responses

My style of mapping is consistent but climactic.

My favorite map is Camellia - ANOMALY mapped by Lynessa. The streams and (jump)trills are incredibly fun to play and the map includes patterns I enjoy to both play and map.

Free Response

This map, in my opinion, shows my style of mapping really well. The extratone bursts in the choruses, more specifically, stay relatively similar while having a few added notes to raise the difficulty and keep the map interesting. The LNs that could have been added during the chorus were ignored so the bursts wouldn't be too congested. I also like the SV introduced before each section of the song that isn't too overbearing. The jumptrills at the end of the minor chorus convey the increased volume of the beats while also staying creative, and it creates some versatility to the map.

describe your style of mapping in 10 words or less: Reflexive but also exaggerating SV that gets progressively stronger

your favorite map and why (30 words or less): Camellia - Paroxysm. Even though I'm a 4k main, and the patterns in the map are quite simple, I just love the building up throughout the map, making these simple patterns fit perfectly.

I have always thought that mapping is trying to express the song with chart as close as possible, while also keeping the map fun to play to (which is pretty subjective, but I usually go with my standard afterall). NULCTRL EX is basically what I visioned the map to be when I first heard the song: the constant building up, strong sound samples, repetitive and simple but expressive patterns.

Don't know if I will get chosen or not, but thanks anyway since this let me reflect on my map quite a lot lmao.

your favorite map and why (30 words or less): steampianist - The Undertakers Daughter Instrumental (by AncuL). I love the song by default and long marathon maps is a challenge for me. A LN map with several SVs. My favorite (even tho i'm not good at LN and SVs)

I personally like this song a lot because I'm a maimai player that tryhard to S this song in MASTER diff (in maimai), so I spam it a lot to the point I became attached. It's a full of energy music and also pretty fast paced. maimai original song are rarely found ranked, so I'm attempting to rank one myself. I like this one best because comparing to my previous maps, this one shows improvement in my comprehension on mania mapping. I hope people would also like it.

I would like to have some advices about svs and mainly mods, i feel like it can still be better.
About months ago i randomly saw this song on youtube and got intrigued cuz this song is a collab by 3 big well-known composers. After i listened to it i instantly in love with this song and tried to map a good set out of it and turns out pretty enjoyable to play(at least i really enjoy playing it) So i want to make the map better and push it to ranked
Thanks in advanced.

describe your style of mapping in 10 words or less: I Want To Make Charts People Will Remember

your favorite map and why (30 words or less): can't say I have a favourite map but I respect much of older Evening's 7K and Blocko maps

free response (preferably 100~ words)

comment on your map you want me to mod below. why do you like it?: It's a longjack chart (the highest diff) that has a quite set-in-stone type of layering. I tried to make it stand out from the rest of the ranked charts and I hope I succeeded in doing so. It's quite underrated. Lower diffs also feature some unconventional patterning, especially with trill usage. So if you would accept that I would be grateful.

describe your style of mapping in 10 words or less:
Difficulty with comfort and handbalance. Density must be justified.

your favorite map and why (30 words or less):
Happy End of the World, by Blocko. I always find myself coming back to this mapset, as its wide variety of keymodes and difficulties gives me something to play no matter what mood I'm in.

This map employs many different ideas without overdoing them. Nothing feels overly dense, allowing for a comfortable yet difficult map. Coming from a taiko background, I've seen problems with some of the ranked taiko maps of this song, so I strive to improve upon their shortcomings and produce a map that is truly enjoyable. After hearing the positive feedback from a few of my friends, I have decided to go for rank. By modding, you will help give mania a great map, and give this song the justice it deserves.
Thanks in advance.
