Currently I'm on ipad so I can't provide screenshot(will do so asap) but I think authentic osu!mania maps from O2Jam needs to be restricted.

On O2Jam official twitter, it's been mention that "copying O2jam pattern to osu! is illegal, and we will take legal action to someone who does that, so please make sure you don't engaged in that..".

Since it seems like there are ppl who already is trying that, It should be forbidded and Informed well before anyone has problem with this issue.

I'm guessing this is the tweet?

I didn't know momocorp owned the authentic o2jam PC charts, are you sure this isn't just for their android/iphone app charts?

Edit; I mean there are games like o2mania, o2fantasy/ etc.. (priv serv) that have basicly stolen the chart files, so do we really have to worry about this?

It's too ambiguous.

I think momocorp don't have copyright for PC Authentic chart.

for reference, PC charts and Android/iOS charts are too different.

I think momocorp doesn't own the PC game charts. They only own the ipad/android charts which are 4k , 5k and 6k notecharts.

And I'm only seeing people who've imported 7K charts which are not included in the ipad/android game.

I've seen O2jam twitter grumbles about illegal copies like o2***** or something several times, right before launch of mobile O2jam games. Well, actually one of the reasons of discontinuation of previous O2jam game was illegal copies, so as I know they are quite serious about that.

It's not about if they really care "that much" or not - having legal issue isn't so nice thing to face in any case so I guess it's better to forbid it or at least notify users about it. (and about o2*****, O2Jam already tried to block them when O2jam Online was still present - and reasonably popular. for instance they tried to block o2***** distributing cafe or wrting notice regarding it being illegal) however they kinda "gave up" since it got distributed in too many different internet sites and whatever it might be.(It's not like they "don't care", they "gave up" because there were no true way to block them.)

However, if osu-sized game seems to have problem, I won't do nothing if i were them.

I don't know why but these days some Korean game music composers are aware of existence of osu!. O2jam twitter mentioned about patterns from the game, but there are also some musicians who shows reluctance about using their music into other games without permission and some of them even mentioned osu! directly. Needs to be careful, guys.

You can't stop people from converting the charts, people will do it regardless of knowing/not knowing O2Jam's legal threats. Even if we ban them from the website I could guarantee they will get distributed over some blog/skydrive. So just saying "HEY YOU CAN'T DO THIS" is kinda pointless because people will do it anyways.

(Not like authentic charts will get ranked anyways, they will just sit in graveyard.)

I'm pretty confused about this, since games like DJMAX and beatmania have close similarities to the overlay to it, albeit, beatmania has the turntable, and DJMAX is on the PSP, but it's also on PC /: .

Atm ported maps are unrankable. Source : o!m guidelines. I think converting maps is ok if they don't go for rankings. But maybe i'm wrong ?
Agka
its illegal but under the dmca if no one cares then it's fine (i'm probably really wrong here, please correct me)

If they wouldn't go for rankings, they would go to approved maps, right?

Also,

About O2Jam,
If unofficial charts to be ported to o!m beatmaps, could they be illegal too due to copyright issue?

I meant : They don't have to be official on osu!. So not ranked nor approved. Graveyard forever. <- But I'm not sure this will be allowed too.

Pathetic... Why da heck they done a BMS>OSU Converter and a guy did a OJN>OSU Converter if later they put this into the wiki?

Trolling Level: MAXIMUM.

WOC2006, PEPPY, YOURE RUINING IT!

EDIT:

Also, you don't know the term called "Abandonware"? I think the oldest O2Jam maps are falling into that soon if the gap was of 10 years...

If not, in 10 years we will have them here and Ranked... xD...

BTW, I don't really mind how they're caring about copyright issues with O2Jam, but not with Every Artist we use in Osu! and every game or company like EZ2DJ/Dancer, Bemani Music, DDR/SM/Etc, DJMax... and so on...

That's pointless, really... also the rights of the songs aren't from MOMOCORP, who's the only company that is still alive and keeps O2Jam Analog/Ultimate for iOS and Android... They was copyrighted to O2Media... or other company... what about that guys?

It seem's youre not digging the info in the right way. :P
DJKero
Sorry for double posting but, im going to ask to MOMOCORP Directly if they have the rights of them.
KazuMaeshima
