Please share your opinions and participate in the vote about Speed Mapping Contest! If the song selected for speedmapping has a length approximately 2 minutes, how much time would you consider giving the contest participants to complete their map?

The Rules:

Please read the rules carefully. Participants who violate the rules will be in risk of losing points or, under certain circumstances, have themselves disqualified from this contest.

1. Participants are not allowed to submit their map after the deadline.
2. Participants are not allowed to submit incomplete or unreadable maps.
3. Participants are not allowed to make any changes to the Timing, Title, Artist, MP3, Source, and Tags of the given map.
4. Participants are not allowed to add any background, video, skin, or storyboard.
5. Participants must create the map individually. No collab maps are allowed.
6. Before the result of the contest is announced, no ID of any participants or submitted maps are allowed to be leaked or spread in public. Participants must not give any information that could help the judge identify the creator of a submitted map.
7. No registration is required. You can directly submit your entry.
8. Multi-accounting is strictly prohibited. No smurfs are allowed.
9. Participants are assumed to agree to all rules above if they chose to submit a map.
10. New rules are being implemented in this Newspaper Cup. If there happen to be any controversies around the rules, the staffs will have the authority to make the final decision.

The Process:

The Song for the Contest
1. The contest will be introducing two groups of songs. Participants are able to compete in both groups, but participants may only chose one song from each group to attend the contest.

Map Creation:
1. Participants have to change the Beatmap Creator in song setup to your OSU! ID, such as "Mafumafu." Before submitting, please delete the "beatmap id" and "beatmapset id" in the .osu file of your map. We strongly recommend participants to complete this step before starting the map to prevent losing all the progress by clicking "Update to newest version".
2. Participants may create 1 difficulty. If more than 1 difficulty is submitted, only the top diff will be evaluated.
3. Custom hitsounds are allowed.
4. Custom combo colors are allowed.
5. Only standard diff names are allowed. (Easy/Normal/Hard/Insane/Expert)

Map Submission:
1. We only accept .osz format submissions. Please rename your .osz file using this format: Mapper - Song ID - Submission Attempts.
For example: Mafumafu - 02 - 3rd Attempt
2. We only accept submissions using sharable links by puush, Google Drive, or BaiduPan.
3. Please submit to Mafumafu via Forum PM. Please change the subject of the Forum PM to the same as your .osz file name.
4. There will be a list of all submitted participants. Your name might not be on the list immediately after your submission.
5. Participants may submit up to 3 attempts. Only the latest submission is effective.

Judging Criteria:
1. Every judge will judge a map individually.
2. Judges will not know the corresponding OSU! player that a participant ID represent. That is, all maps are anonymous to the judges.
3. Judges will judge a map on Consistency, Playability and Innovation.
> Consisency Score (10 points): Is the map consistent in rhythm choices, patterns, and hitsounds?
> Playability Score (10 points): Are the patterns suitable for gameplay? Do the patterns fit the song?
> Innovation Score (10 points): Did the map implement any original or creative concepts?
The sum of all points above is the map's Original Score.
4. The Actual Score of the map is the standard deviation of the Original Score, that is:
S* = ( S - S(average) ) / SD
S* is the Actual Score.
S is the Original Score.
S(average) is the average of all Original Scores that a judge has given throughout the contest.
SD is the standard deviation of all Original Scores that a judge has given throughout the contest.
5. After judging all submissions, the staff will announce the list of scores and all submission maps. This list includes the corresponding OSU! player of each participant ID and the score of their map.
6. For each song group, participants will be sorted in a descending order according to their Actual Score.

Ranking and Prizes (Not finialized)
- This NPC uses a new ranking system. Ranking will be split into two groups: Instrumental Group and Vocal Group. The two songs in each group will be ranked together. Rank #1 of each group (which is the winner of each group) will be awarded osu! Supporter (or prize money with the same value) and a profile badge (pending.)

- Additionally, a Rookie Mapper who got Rank #1 among other Rookie Mappers with an overall ranking above 40% in his/her group will also be awarded osu! Supporter (or prize money with the same value) and a profile badge (pending.) If a Rookie Mapper got an overall Rank #1 in his/her group, the highest value prize amongst the abovementioned two will be awarded.

- You are considered as a Rookie Mapper if:
> Your account is created before December 1st, 2019.
> You did not rank any map before January 1st, 2019. You did not rank more than 1 Insane (according to the OSU! website star rating system) or higher difficulties (including guest diffs) before January 15th, 2020.
> You did not come out third place or above from Pending Cup, Newspaper Cup, or any official mapping contests (Aspire, Mapping Olympiad, Monthly Beatmapping Contest, etc.) before.
> You are considered novice in mapping by the staff.
