I was thinking that a way to speed-up/help with the handling of guest maps (or anything actually) would be that if you're in the editor, and drag and dropping a .osu file would instantly add the metadata, hitobjects, timing sections and difficulty specific storyboard from the .osu file into the editor.

I was thinking of this working in 2 ways, it could either replace the whole difficulty with the information from the .osu file, or just add the data to it, in the later case, as an example, if the .osu file has only 3-4 hit objects, it would add those 3-4 hit objects to the difficulty without overwritting anything else, which would come in handy when handling collaboration maps.

Or it could also give the option of either Replace/Insert whenever you drag and drop the .osu file, heck it could even ask which do you want to replace/insert between Metadata, Timing Sections, Hitobjects or Difficulty Specific storyboard.

Any suggestions, comments, complaints?

Drag the .osu file as we do with the .osz file is a great idea.

Totally support it :)

I don't really want to accidentally drag a .osu into the map im editing and having it completely ruin my work. Why not have it as a separate difficulty and it will just put it in the correct folder instead?

I was thinking of a confirmation message too of course.

Maybe it could work that way as well for collaboration maps, since you can easily copy/paste hit objects across difficulties iirc, timing sections however xD ehhh...

how the hell would you accidentally drag an .osu file that would somehow overwrite your current stuff? as if you didn't want to overwrite it for some reason.

if that happens, then I guess a confirmation would be handy. like sakura suggested.
