Problem details: this is the second time this has happened to me and I don't know why

I was in the middle of an o!m beatmap and suddenly my PC shut off (no idea why; I don't recall pressing any keys/buttons that would trigger this). When I booted it again and opened the game, about three-quarters of the maps (not all of them for some reason) I had downloaded disappeared. I got them all back by pressing F5 thankfully, but my main concern is that now all of the local scores are gone and I don't know if I can get them back.

When I group my maps by "Recently Played", it shows all of the beatmaps I lost under "Never" even though I have scores on some of them (refer to video). I have not played osu! on a different device since 2017 and I don't usually delete local scores, so they were definitely there prior to the issue.

Not sure if my PC shutting down has anything to do with it, since I don't recall it shutting down the first time it happened. No one else I know has had this issue. It seems unlikely that it'd be due to hardware, but I'll list my specs if need be.

osu! version: Stable 20200118.2 (latest)

Your PC randomly shutting down is probably the cause of the issue. osu! cannot shut down your PC, so it's either a hardware issue or some other piece of software that is somehow causing that to happen. That is something you'll probably want to try and troubleshoot at some point.

The database file that contains certain map information, such as whether a map has been played before, was probably corrupted due to your computer shutting down. If you are lucky, you might have an automatic backup of it somewhere in your osu! folder. The file will be named something like "osu!.db.90845084350983459.bak". If you find any recent files like that, you can remove the numbers and ".bak" from the end and replace your existing "osu!.db" file with the backup. Just make sure you do this while you have the game closed. If you don't have a backup file, it's probably not possible to fix the Recently Played grouping.

Your local scores can be recovered in a similar way. Close the game, open your osu! folder, and look for a "scores.db" file this time. If you have any backups, you can try using them the same way as described above. However, if you don't have any backups, deleting the file entirely should cause the game to recreate it with the local replay data that you should have in a hidden Data/r folder (not the same thing as your Replays folder).

I tried deleting the "scores.db" file, but after opening the game it kept saying "Unable to read the requested replay file." Is there any way around this?

Probably not. Deleting that file should cause all of your replays to be imported into the game though. If you have 100 replays and that message pops up 4 times, that should just means 4 of the 100 replays couldn't be imported and the other 96 worked fine.

Never mind, I was finally able to get all of them back. Thanks for your help!
