How Long Can You Hold Your Breath?

So I decided to go swimming again after a long hiatus.
I tried to test how long I could hold my breath.

I was able to hold it for only a minute D:
What about you guys?

If i'm under water and calm, 9 minutes 20 seconds is my record
if i'm under water and swimming, 2-3 minutes
if i'm above water and calm, 2-3 minutes (it's much harder to resist breathing when you know there's air right there)
if i'm above water and active, barely a minute.

If you can see this it means I'm posting outside of the mapping forums and you should take anything I said with heaps of salt, or as purely intended for humor.

I'm afraid of drowning or getting my lungs wet in water, so I try not to go under for too long. I could barely hold my breath for 40 seconds just then, but my posture was bad and I didn't take as deep a breath as physically possible for me, so I could have gotten a few more seconds at best I think.

Indeed, probably psychological like mine, I can hold my breath up to 4 minutes at times in normal conditions, under water maybe 2 at most.

I can hold my breath under water for 155 seconds (checked it just yesterday). The main thing is to take the fast breaths before diving, so you can saturate your blood with the oxygen.

While being underwater, about 3 minutes.
Normally, about 4-5 minutes.

I can't gauge my water time because I haven't gone swimming for several years.

Didn't know this. Great tip.

My results while sitting:

1st attempt: 1 minute 9 seconds
2nd attempt: 1 minute 40 seconds

Not going to try for the third attempt since I'm a little dizzy now.

Anywhere between 30 seconds to 1 and a half minutes. It really depends whether or not I'm tired when I hold my breath.

Give or take, my average is about 45 seconds.
