I had made this comment in OT, but I thought I'd go ahead and share this here for those wondering how I would learn a language (as I'm learning Spanish right now, on and off):
You'll want to use a combination of comprehensible input and immersive input, as well as crosstalk.
Comprehensible input basically means input you can understand (Dreaming Spanish has a video explaining how to learn a language, even though there are English subtitles readily available). Immersive input is input while you don't understand it, you learn the sounds of the language. You will need a LOT of listening hours before you begin to speak it, read it and write it (In my case, for Spanish, I would need roughly 2,000 hours and have a vocabulary of 7,000 words in order to begin reading, writing and speaking it)
Crosstalk is the method where a speaker of the target language that is interested and you speak to each other in your native language. You hear your target language spoken while your partner would hear your language in order that you both get the sounds of your target language.
