assuming both of you are sincere:

not that i understand what that particular australian person thinks, but this is probably a matter of semantic ambiguity from a very colloquial use of nationality to identify specific kinds of people in specific positions of power

that is to say, it's plausible enough to excuse some part of whatever sametdze is describing if it's correct to assume he isn't referring to your average russian citizen with minimal-if-any influence on specific sociopolitical events unrelated to the effects of migration and whatever semblance there would be of residual culture being carried over

it's all too common in my experience that this semantic ambiguity from a broadly-generalized term will cause that kind of miscommunication, with terrible/frustrating effects. as for what exactly sametdze means by whatever it is he seems to blame a population of russian politicians or citizens or government officials for, i have no idea and wouldn't comment on that;;

i think a lot of the unhinged-adjacent expressions you made were really good (the stressed-out face is a good example) but i imagine that maybe withsome of the others that you dont do a lot of, its possibly they would have needed more specific facial contortions in ways that were kinda unfamiliar
