could you try downloading https://m1.ppy.sh/r/osu!install.exe, renaming to `osu!.exe` and replacing your main executable?

Also what version of windows are you running?

1. I can't, it says that I dont have the permission to replace anything in osu! folder, I also tried repairing folder permissions but it didnt work.

2. I am running Windows 11.

3. If I launch the installer it will look like this:

Edit: I also can't connect to bancho cause of this (I just found out), but somehow I can still be able to submit scores and gain pp and ranks.

Are you running a wierd windows 11 install? It suggests that windows is broken, maybe patched or hacked.

I've scanned my windows and it says that its completely fine, and I already updated my windows from 10 to 11 few months ago.

1. Right click your osu folder - properties
2. Go to security tab
3. Click "Edit" button
4. Click "Add"
5. Click "Advance"
6. New window will pop up, click "Find now"
7. At the bottom, there will be search result, find "Everyone", seleck and click ok
8. Click ok again
9. Back at windows same as step 4, at "Group or usernames", select everyone and then check allow at everything
10. hit Ok and ok

I think you don't need to add "Everyone", after step 3, you can select your pc usernames or system and then check everything. But somehow i can't do anything with it and decided to add new user.

I don't know if it will fix yours or not, but it fixes mine.
Also, somehow all folder in my ssd has "Read only" ticked and i can't remove it after i do full reinstall to new windows 11. I remember before upgrade to win 11, that thing isn't ticked. Idk if that related or not but just want to mention it.

Sadly, this didn't work for me, it still says I'm missing the permission, but thanks for your effort on this!

By any chance, is test signing mode enabled on your copy of Windows? I also had this problem sans the permissions issues. I ran the osu!repair executable and tried updating to the beta branch which didn't work, but when I entered "solo" it finally said that score submission is disabled in test signing mode. I pressed the button to disable it, restarted the PC and now I am connected to Bancho.

Not connecting to Bancho is not the main problem for me, stucking on old osu version is. But I can try that after I got home(I’m at school rn lol), thanks for the information.

I tried deleting the whole osu folder and reinstall osu, but it still shows osu crashed and the error is System.Exception: Unsigned executable!, I can't download back anymore :pensive:
Ohlam
something is obviously broken with the recent update, too many of us having the same problem with no solutions
