A couple of decades from now, peppy and most of the dev team isn't gonna be alive, if not that I'm sure people of a certain age will not want to work on osu! no more. Maybe the player base will be very inactive kind of like Halo. When is the day the osu! servers shut down, I'm sure soon I and many other people will just think of this game as something we used to play when we were younger, I highly doubt many of us will play this game actively 5 years from now.

i dont like thinking about that, but the world does stuff we dont like so..
like the thing that happened with that one guy who died and was a big part of tf2 or something, it's gonna hurt the community a lot. I dont really have much to say about this but it's defiantly gonna do some stuff to active peoples in the community.

osu! is open source, meaning anybody can contribute. I remember mention there will be support for 3rd party servers in the future. So if core osu! team suddenly disappears due to aliens or something, other people may pick up where they left off

I hope that osu, even after I leave it will still be able to be accessed for all of the other people to enjoy just as us. My main theory on osu however is that peppy never dies and is immortal. Meaning that he will always work on the game until the end of times
Every game dies eventually. It'll be sad, but at least osu will probably have a better fate than most. Besides, a couple decades is a lot of time.

look at things from this perspective: you joined last year, meaning you have been around for about a year now, or about half a dozen "5 years from now". There are a lot of people actively around in osu that have been around way longer than that, even I have been here longer than 6 years. So from this perspective, there is no reason to believe it'd significantly die suddenly on it's own during few more years, unless some additional things happened to work as the catalystTubby Custard wrote:

many quite old games, many that aren't exactly open source either (just cracked or otherwise), are kept alive by active fanbases years after the "death of the game", and that would possibly happen with osu! as well, no matter what goes on with the official game supportabraker wrote:

in any case, like was also mentioned, it's just a game, no matter how fond you are of it or your time here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm predicting this game completly gets shutdown due to dmca and somewhere around the internet osu will try to get revived by someone and eventually someone would try to host a server.
