Idea:
Add a new game mode called "Non-Stop Beatmap Stream."

Concept:
In this mode, players can join continuous streams of beatmaps that update in real-time. There will be several global non-stop streams to choose from, each featuring a specific sequence of maps selected by criteria like star rating. All players in a stream play the same map simultaneously. Similar to a live stream on YouTube or Twitch, players can join or leave the stream anytime whenever they feel like it, (and, similar to streams on YouTube and Twitch, interactive elements could be added, such as displaying the highest combo on the stream, accuracy, or simply a list of participants with their global rank, maybe some interpritation of "chat" concept (for example: players might be able to create their own message templates before the game and send them to the stream using a hotkey.)).

How It Works:
The stream is a continuous sequence of beatmaps where each new map downloads in the background while the player finishes the previous one. Maps switch seamlessly, and the old map is automatically deleted in the background (It might be possible to add a setting to save played maps automatically, or allow players to do so by pressing a hotkey during gameplay to save individual maps they enjoyed). Combo count carries over from one map to the next, allowing players to build extremely high combos. Profiles could even display a "max non-stop combo" stat.

Based on popularity, additional parallel streams could be added, allowing maps to be selected not only by star rating but also by, for example star rate + music genre, or other detailed beatmap parameters. Moreover, osu! already has a detailed system of beatmap parameters (BPM, AR, CS, Star rating, Genre, Artist, etc.), and all these parameters can be combined with each other.

This mode could be introduced as a separate category (Single, Multi, Non-Stop Stream) or added as a feature within multiplayer. I believe it would be beneficial to focus on social interaction, allowing players in the same stream to see each other’s performance and progress in real time and maybe some others features.

P.S.
If you’re inspired by this idea, feel free to suggest features or improvements! Who knows, maybe a future osu! lazer update could make it happen.

Alternatively how about a local stream of your own beatmaps? This suggestion is kind of reminding me of the continuous pre-selected five track playlists in Project Diva.

sounds like it could be fun. I don't think this really needs to be a separate mode from multi though? a lot of the individual ideas here would still make sense in a normal multi lobby by themselves

- option to queue maps automatically when the queue is empty, based on some given criteria
- option to allow joining maps in-progress
- more configurable participant/ranking displays beyond the typical leaderboard
- "message templates" as you said or just some kind of really quick "emote" type of thing to communicate mid-map
- option to play through a whole range of maps in the queue back-to-back without exiting back to lobby
