played fnf for 2 years and started mania at 3 star and after 2 months im 3.8 star level. i wanna know advice to get to 4 star as 4 star seems like when mania gets really funny.

any advice will be read and probably responded to

thanks :D

edit: just to clarify, id say i beat a song at >=95% acc unlike most people whod say 90% im pretty sure

That is when patterns become denser. So, consistency does matter.

I'd say you're on the right path playing maps that you get 95%+ accuracy in, keep that up. However, try to aim for 98%+ on said maps. After awhile, you should be comfortable on higher SR.
Personally, it did take a bit of time for me to break that wall.

Also, by this time, try to develop Jumpstream and handstream skill. These will be a good starting point for you to climb over the wall, as these patterns are introduced much more.

lmao most maps i have mentioned i have 98%s in. and yes i am playing maps with jumps and hands as i have a 98% on a 3.6 star chordstream map and gonna get a 98% on a 3.8 star chord stream. i also have a 98.95% on a song consisting of basically only jumps. my only weak points now are LN and quads, LN because i dont like them and theyre used uncomfortably in 3 star songs and quads because i dont see them in lower star rating songs. ill just play songs i like and slowly develop LN as afterall games are for fun

thanks wimpy cursed :D

edit: ok i got a 98.01% on the 3.8 star chordstream with 4 misses. i think its the most pp ive earned in 1 song

I remember targeting hands and jumps to have a better sense of where I should read the notes and to also comprehend the speed/stamina. I feel like it did help with conserving my stamina, enough so to be able to play chords consistency.

Of course, with simple chords, not much reading needs to be done. The two things that matter are speed and stamina. Later on though, they can become harder. All it takes is a few mini-jacks, and welp, fuck. That is when reading comes in. But you don't need to worry about that (or shouldn't) in awhile lol.

my main issue is speed, ive not really cared for it as i had bigger fish to fry like stuff that fnf doesnt teach you (literally anything besides single streams) so my speed isnt developed too much. its not too bad but its not enough for 4 stars. if you have any advice regarding speed stuff besides "play more" which doesnt work for me because i spend like 2 hours daily on mania then let me know because itd be greatly appreciated. its always the jump minijack stuff throwing me off because istg every 4 star ive played has jump minijacks

thanks :D

also incase your wondering i can prob get a 92% - 93% on a 4 star as of now

I would say that single streams could help and of course other simple streams such as broken streams, but the density of them would need to be increased or sped up.
Chord jacks do help with general tapping speed, and that is how I am able to do mini-jacks as of now.

To be honest, I am not sure which of the two I can recommend over the other.
I can maybe search for maps that I have used in the past, but it has been over a year since I downloaded the packs. So it may take a bit of time for me to find them. But there is one that I totally did not grab at random from the forum pages. It helped me gain speed for general stream. here it is.

Also, I recommend using a tool called osu!trainer to increase or decrease rates of your maps.

thanks for the advice. i dont need to get any charts or programs to change rates as i play on lazer and i can mess around with rates in lazer

If you are fine with 3.8 you should not have problems with 4* at all. I mean, 4* difficulty varies a lot but if you are aiming for low 4*'s then you should be fine. I'd say two weeks maybe? But yeah, take what the others said into consideration, i wouldn't play a lot of rate changed charts at this points tho

my hands are simply too slow, it may be how hard im pressing increasing ALOT ever since i started playing at school with the crappy keyboards but i simply cant hit fast enough, whatever i do hit is often accuratley but my hands just get overwhelmed

the thing is that you are going to be playing patterns that are not made for that speed, think about it this way, if you are playing a 200 bpm map, then the mapper probably made the patterns thinking about the speed and how it should be hit. Now, playing it at lower speed would be easier. I'm not saying to not do it but also play maps at normal speed often

hitting lighter doesnt help, i find that it actually lowers my accuracy its really weird how hitting harder increases my acc. i played a few times this 3.7 star with speed i could do (light jumpstream) and my acc plumeted to 97.3~% and on one attempt even below 97% whilst with hard pressing i would consistently get >97.6% acc. ill edit this when i try another speed type chart

edit: ok i tried with another jump stream map with random trills and uuuuuuhhhhhhh i play better when hitting hard (or atleast as hard as i normally do)

ykw that is not much of a difference.

How is your PA/MA ratio?

Slowpoke1135
its not perfectly consistent but my PA/MA is roughly 1/2 or 1/3 (incase i expressed that wrong that means 1 perfect and 2 marvelous or 1 perfect and 3 marvelous)

I am probably right above you when it comes to playing. I just got to where i'm playing around 4.3 star maps @ S rank and even then there are some i fail. I'm not even at the point where i'm practicing something specifically yet. My best advice is just play more and give it time. in a month if you keep playing a lot you will improve so much. Hell i just learned what scroll speed was when i started doing 4* maps.

ok i did a 4 star guys! and its a 97.5% in 1 attempt without knowing the chart too. if anyone is reading this to learn then id say play 3.9 stars because holy fuck they help ALOT
