I am mainly a mania player but I think this question would be beneficial for any mode player, for some background I haven't played a rhythm game for a while (3 months and haven't played consistently for 2 years) and came back about a week ago. Recently I've noticed I have pain in my finger joint while I play as you can see in the picture on my left hand, in the picture I tried to recreate my tapping form because I believe it may be because I was either tapping too hard, flexing/straining too much (being too tense) or maybe there's something wrong with my form. What do you guys think? (I am mainly a 4K player)

Usually this will happen if you tense up too much. Try to tap as light as possible to avoid harsh movements and strain.
Try to cut back on the difficulty if it helps.

As Wimpy said, this is most likely do to tense up a lot after a long range of time.

So, cut back on difficulty. You can also stretch your hand/fingers pre-session if that helps.

Adding to what they said.

If you're coming back from a long break then its good to ease back into it. Could take a week, or a month, or longer to fully derust. It varies from person to person and how rusty you were, since the hands & fingers gotta re-acclimate to 4k, and some other stuff.
