PP Question - Which is more important?

Let this be a casual gathering of opinions than a poll to base a decision by. There is a change requesting that NF mod not panelize pp for no or very low amount of misses. This got me thinking what the community would value more: Player experience and how scores look like on leaderboards, or the accurate and proper calculation of pp?

On one hand:
NF mod only toggles on/off HP processing, which has no effect on the actual difficulty of the map. The player would accumulate misses, combo breaks, and poor accuracy that would appropriately reduce pp. Hence, pp should be unaffected by the NF mod.

On the other hand:
Panelizing pp for putting on the NF mod serves as a way to discourage the use of NF mod. If the NF mod had no pp penalty, then players would be more encouraged to put on the NF mod so that pp can still be obtained despite failing on difficulty spikes otherwise.

So say a person chain missed in any part of the map, putting their health to zero, but proceed to fc everything else, still earning pp. It may be unlikely to actually do that and get enough pp to get higher ranks, but the possibility is there.

Would option A still not trigger a change in pp amount if you "fail"?

I would much prefer the second option, that pp be calculated properly and accurately.

Option A says failing shouldn't affect pp, so no

I think we should compare the pp on a 4* map between

  1. full combo
  2. with a miss around 50% of the song
  3. with misses around 50% that should just cause a fail
  4. with a miss count same as above, but scattered throughout
with both the No Fail nerf on and off, and at the same accuracy. I think real data is going to speak loud.

I peronally dislike seeing it due to the score reduction aspect of it, so pp-wise it doesn't really matter much to me.

That being said, I also don't really understand why it would penalize you more for misses, either. If you fail out with it on, that's one thing, but a 1-miss score IMO should be valued the same whether NF is on or not.

I play for both pp and score. Playing with NF on halves my score but I still gain the same pp from it. I have always seen NF penalizing people that like to farm scores than people that farm pp. That is what NF really hits ultimately is your score multiplier (0.50x). With that in place, it logically makes sense that pp should be unaffected by NF given than the HP processor has absolutely nothing to do with pp calculation criteria (aim, speed, accuracy, and bonus flashlight). If the pp calculation had something to do with HP then yes, NF should affect pp.

Edit: are you proposing this question because of the combo scaling removal for pp?
Duck o-o
Why should nf do anything if you wouldnt have failed anyway
It doesnt affect the game until then
Its like putting spun out on a map with 0 spinners
