this might be a crazy question, but up to this day i've been playing with just my fingers on laptop trackpad with a 8x sens in game (i literally had to change game files to achieve that sensitivity, bc with lower sensitivity it's impossible to aim anything higher than 3*)
so i decided to finally buy a mouse to play normally, for the first time in my life, after like 12 years of being comfortable with a trackpad
but then i tried playing and it's pretty much impossible to play and i'm not sure what is the reason, is it just because i'm not used to it, or is it because i'm doing something wrong (but really, how do you even hold a mouse when playing?)

my aim is INCREDIBLY shaky, to the point where it's unplayable, and i don't understand what's the problem
i can't even aim 1 star maps, maybe i would learn if i play more, but going from 5* to 1* sounds incredibly boring and not enjoyable, do i really have to learn everything from scratch now
at this point i'm going to return to trackpad

start practicing, make the map easier, give it time.

it probably won't take long if you give it a good shot, but do whatever you want.

turn off enhanced cursor precision in mouse settings, consider using lower sens (1x in osu)

Try like 800/1000 dpi x1 sens raw input on in osu

Search up mouse grips and try them out. Fingertip grip is probably the most popular for osu, or at least it feels the most natural for me. With your wrist planted on the table and only your fingertips touching the mouse, you curl your fingers to move your mouse up and down and flick your wrist to move it side to side, with 0 or at least minimal arm movement.

You could also experiment having your palm planted on your mouse and making up/down movements and side-side movements with your arm. You you decide to aim with your arm, you might wanna try lower dpis as well.

bruh so you're new to the mouse... hey i respect the trackpad grind. i probably wouldve too if mine had absolute positioning built in. but man, just get used to the mouse. there are many techniques to using mice. even new players probably have more experience with the mouse, because they use it outside of osu too. the most important thing is to be willing to adapt.
