in the way of playing a level/beatmap a bunch of times in order to get the muscle memory/regular memory(???) required to beat it??

edit: i just remembered lots of people replay farm maps a lot if they have a bad start or miss but still

yes you must memorize where every circle will be before it appears

Does geometry dash basically require a good rhythm sense as the obstacles and tapping rhythm follow the rhythm of the song?

If not, then not by a long shot.

While likely sarcastic, there can be some truth to this if you're playing at high AR (especially if you aren't used to AR10). But that's...kinda not really the song's fault, though?

No

Not even close

if osu had changing approach rate and it suddenly without warning changed to ar11 on a 2 star map then maybe I would consider this comparison as truthful

in gd even if you're a top player you'll still need a ton of trys to beat any demon, while in osu you can sightread fc everything even at the highest level if you're good enough

Also, GD is mainly an obstacle course with music behind it, Osu is an actual rhythm game.

Unless your main mod is Flashlight, I wouldn't recommend replaying a map more than 3 times in a row because it can cause mindblocks that might affect your progress in the game. If you are a beginner, sightreading is the way to go.

Osu is a way easier game as a GD veteran I think the game is way harder

osu! only requires to click not the circles to the big, while GD requires to click to avoid dying. i think osu! is easier at the beginning but it gets way harder than GD when maps get HARD.

I myself have only cleared a hard demon at most, but i think OSU has a much higher skill ceiling thab GD. However making one simple mistake in GD just means death, sorta like the sudden death modification in OSU! And i think that's what makes it hard. In general though OSU is easier because every map is sightreadable unlike GD

Most demons I have beaten have frame perfect jumps and insane straight fly
osu is not as hard because timing aren’t as important maybe you can argue that higher star rating maps are harder but obviously no one has beaten them

Let’s compare tidal wave the hardest GD level verified to Sidetracked Day the current pp record
Sidetracked Day consist of 282 bpm death streams with huge spacing making it insanely hard to play and very stamina draining it is also ar 10.67 making it hard to react it sits at 10.5 stars. Now Tidal wave it starts of with many short mini dual rollers and insane hold dash, after that it slows down making you have to click within exactly 0.25 - 0.15 blocks on just normal spikes the reaction speed isn’t helping either after that you have some parts that aren’t too hard and then we go to the wave which is by far the hardest having every click almost frame perfect. I would say that sidetracked day dt isn’t hard to read and play (doesn’t mean they can pass or play well) for someone who has been playing for a while but tidal wave first 20 per cent is almost impossible for someone who has been playing for years.

Conclusion
It really depends both games are hard in their ways geometry dash is a simple concept but gets harder the more you play but osu is more complex but I would say GD is a bit harder because to be the no.1 player you have to
play demons and you can’t necessarily choose when you have beaten all of them you have to beat the next one that comes out and if you don’t then you could lose your spot but in osu you can farm meta maps because you have over 100k maps to pick so you can choose which one you want to play.
Sorry for this fatherless paragraph I was bored

to be #1 in GD, you have to be extremely patient and consistent

to be #1 in osu!, you need genetics /j

Both difficulty ceiling is being constantly challenged by the community. Both are required much of time, dedication, persistance, and quite much of luck to progress the game. I'd say both are pretty much on equal standing

Although I guess it depends on players if there more comfortable with sight reading or needs to have memorisation down to every single note, osu are easier on that aspect of needing to memorise a mapset while geometry dash are a lot more unforgiving

Compare the 10*'s to the hardest demons, not the pp record.
KS Wicher
Both games are as hard as mappers make it therefore both games are equally hard

Most extreme demons in the top 10 are harder than your average 10* Geometry dash learning curve is a lot harder unless your SpaceUK 💀💀
