Cannot install osu! through lutris, says that sha256 doesnt match when it downloads cl gothic.

im not sure how / if i should, use the --force option

you should probably just try other ways of installing on linux, what I did last time was just install wine, then install .net 4 with offline installer and finally ran osu! through wine, you will need to run 32bit wine prefix though and might encounter other issues along the way, if you want a simpler way then search on github for scripts that allow you to install osu! on linux, example: "osu-winello"

i tried doing that, and tried a couple different install methods, havent heard of osu-winello, will try that, thank you

I download the file directly and file it got:
./VLGothic-20141206.tar.xz: HTML document, Unicode text, UTF-8 text, with very long lines (4602)
seems the link is not the file and I got the link html file itself

Edit:
I found this issue https://github.com/Whisky-App/Whisky/issues/675 and put a correct file in directory solved this problem

I know the issue seems to be already fixed, but this might be helpful:
The go-to, other than using Lazer, is using osu-winello: community/forums/topics/1248084
It is quite stable and well tested by the community. It also includes fixes for opening folders from the game, Discord RPC and osu:// protocol handler
