Subarashii Sekai: 6?/10: this one is a weird one, I did enjoy it while I was reading it, however, when I was nearing the end of the manga, that I was trying to place all the pieces together, I realized that the things I enjoyed about this manga were missconceptions

I had read scenes where I go "ohhh this didn't actually happen but actually just works to express this", but no, that DID happen, which made me kinda dissapointed, even if it's a psychological mmanga, the scenes really dont go that deep

Yuugai Muzai Gangu: 9.49/10: this manga is so close to a 10 it actually hurts my soul

the story is absolutely crazy, the art is absolutely amazing, the concepts this manga throws at you, the way the characters are written, the way everything is connected, everything is so absolutely amazing

however, with all that potential, you decide to make it into a 4 chapter anthology-like manga


WHY

if honestly this manga went for like 3 more volumes it could have been one of the greatest manga i've ever read, howevver, it just feels too short, the way it hurts my soul seeing such a good plot and concept for a story just not really be used to it's full potential makes me dislike this manga enough where I dont give it a 10/10.

I normally dont read anthologies, I only read one since it really caught my attention, and I can see why it caught my attention because it was amazing but pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee I wish this was so slightly longer please god

Gishi Sanjin Den:9/10: Another anthology of the same mangaka I just talked about in my last post, this one is a little bit worse IMO, but it's still extremely solid

Saraiya Goyou: 8/10: this isn't a manga that I know a lot of people will like, as it is just dialogue. It's a 8 volume long samuari manga with no action at any point, and the conversations itselfs aren't too dramatic, it's a really slow manga with an unique artstyle. Howaever, I completely agree with these decisions and think they make for a really good manga if you like that

I watched Red Line yesterday and like,,,,,, go watch it?? Now?? Not much story but cool scifi cars and amazing animation 10/10

I finished reading Ana Satsujin a few hours ago and... meh. The last kill arc was good? Kinda? Tbh you can just skip directly to vol 4(?). Good concept executed by a mangaka who was def not comptetent enough to do justice to it. 4/10

I honestly felt like the last chapters were written by a 12 year old in Wattpad. The beginning was decent but the authour decided to add more arcs just for the sake of adding them.

Witch Hat Atelier: 9/10, not finished, onyl caught up to it. One of the better fantasy/magic manga i've read, really good plot, really like the characters, the artstyle is really polished and cool, really recommend it

two mangas for me

Sousou no fieren: 6/10, I'm really dissaponted by this manga, the plot seemed to be super interesting, going to put the MAL synopsis if anyone wants to read it


a manga about the epilogue of a fantasy story? that seemed interesting, it appeared like it was going to be a very slow manga overall, not really much action or whatever, just those two going to the places, siting there mostly in silence, remembering everything that happened, and now that she has more perspective about life, teaching it her to the apprentice

however, this is not the case at all, the manga is a run of the mill fantasy story of this character who is overly OP, it almost seems like a regular isekai without the harem parts TBH

it's probably not bad if you like isekais, but I did not like, however the first 3 volumes are so are kinda cool

Shimanami Tasogare: 8/10, started reading this manga like 2 years ago, wasn't for the mood for it, and left it in the will read later area until now. It's a really nice drama about the gay experience, nothing really else to say in my opinion

Real: 9/10: dont really read sport manga, this is in fact the first one i've ever read, it's not finished but I got up to date

Really like it, honestly the whole point of the manga isn't even related to basketball in a way, it's just a manga about each character lfie experience, how they react after getting a disability, and how they go forward in that, more about the internal struggles of each person more than a basketball match, basketball just happens to be something that a lot of characters value very highly

it's also worth mentioning that after I finished reading this manga I realized this is made by the same person that did vagabond, which I read recently and really liked for very similar reasons too

Honestly i'm probably going to check more sports manga after this, because if there are more in this style i'm interested to read them, already started one, will probably write about it here soon

Ping Pong: 9/10: I really vibe with this manga, again, like real, it's not really about ping pong, the sport isn't the focus, instead, this manga tackles effort, talent and passion, you could have replaced the ping pong element with anything else and it would have worked, it's a really nice manga, I really like the ending and the overall philosophy of the manga, the art-style is very unique which I like, heavily recommended


Touch: Not for me/10: read because K4N44 recommended, read the first volume or so, eh, didn't really catch my attention much, decided to not really continue it and read something else, the style is very different from the two sport manga i've already read, and seems more focused on the romance aspect, and I dont really know I want to read a 26 volume high school baseball romance rn, or ever really. I don't really add the mangas I just read the first volume and dont continue in my MAL list, so I did not score it

Aria: 9/10: Really good slice of life, good characters, the world fives a lot to think about, I really recommend it, it's pretty good

the reason why I liked ping pong and real it's because how small and personal the manga felt, in ping pong, the main character doesn't even really care about ping pong, and the story focuses around that, around the difference between pure talent and effort, and how we missjudge people based on that

real is about how is it to live after obtaining a disability, how is it to only have one thing in your life (Basketball), and losing it, and how even if that were to happen, there is still hope in the distance

There was a reason why I didn't really read sport manga before a few days ago, and that is beacuse I exected most mangas to be very shounen-like, where it IS completely based on the sport and is maybe to over the top in the way it says thng

Tennis no ouji-sama is that manga so far, I cant really see in this manga any of the reason why I enjoyed real or ping pong, the first volume and half of the second volume is just playing a high school level match and going WHAT????? THE MADE THAT MOVE????, kinda just reminds me of that tennis scene in death note, and I did not like that scene



So far, I haven't really continued the manga, just moved on to another thing

(Manga) Saint Oniisan: 9/10: wanted to clean my plan to read a little bit, and I had this one sitting for a while, so I decided to read it finally. Saint oniisan is a comedy manga about Jesus christ and Buddha living together in an apartment, and all the funny scenes that come from that, it's note mentioning that this manga doesn't just have jesus and buddha, but other important characters from their respective religions and other religions/mithologies alltogether are present, like zeus or loki

I did not know it was this long, 20 volumes long and still ongoing, but, it was a really good read, honestly, the latest 2 volumes are my personal favourite, has a couple of the best moments of the manga

I recommend reading if you dont mind it being long, really good comedy manga

also, response to k4n44, wind breaker doesn't seem like my thing; i don't really like action except in very specific context and mangas

didn't read the manga, but I read the first vol of the light novel and the anime, and I really loved it, one of the best yuris out there IMO

Tonari ni: 7/10: Good 1 volume yaoi by a mangaka I already liked, kinda short, would liked it for it to be a little bit longer, for more emotional impact

Futari no Lion: 7/10: Good 1 volume yaoi by a mangaka I did not know about, same opinion as above

Usuzumi no hate: 9?/10: New manga, started publication last year, this may be one of the mangas with the most ammount of potential i've read, only really behind shimeji simulation

It's a post-apocaliptic slice of life drama, about this girl that runs around and cleans corpses to avoid more deaths, I dont want to say too much about the plot, since there is almost nothing released so far, but HOLY FUCK IT'S GOOD

I personally LOVE post-apocaliptic slice of lifes, but it's not the biggest market, and post-apocaliptic slicce of life/drama are rare, but damn, this plot is honestly very original, the conflict the main protagonist faces is extremely psychological and honestly I've never seen it in another manga

This manga is a tough read, it's very dramatic, and in the single volume that it has released, it has some very emotional moments

the art is amazing, the dialogue is good, the characters are good, the conflict feels very human, even if it's a fantasy scenario, it's just a really fucking good manga

I wish that there was more released in order to talk about it more, or to talk about this first volume without it being spoilers, I did not give it a 10 since it's still early, but if this keeps going, and improves on this idea, it's actually a 10/10

Haikyuu!! Season 2. 9/10

Animation improved, some interesting characters introduced and drama went slightly hotter, and matches were really exciting holy flick. Not to tell the development some characters underwent and the unexpected wholesomeness this anime has shown so far. Haikyuu teaches you to not to lament yourself over your past mistakes, fear is normal and that you haven't lost till the match has finished. This anime has been lifting up my mood lately.

Not giving it a 10 bc at times it felt corny.

Side note: Man why is Asahi so cute goddamnit.

Serial Experiments Lain: 7/10: Found that there was a spanish dub so I watched it.

Lain has a very dedicated fanbase, I cant just go on , give it a 7, and move on with my life, so, I will explain what do I enjoy exactly about anbime, and why I don't think that lain is THAT good

Lain is an anime mainly known for it's very complicated plot, and the way that the anime obtains this complexity is by purpousely abstracting information to the watcher, so things happen, and there really isn't an explanation to the viewer, the actual plot when you write it down isn't really that out of the ordinary, but the way it's presented is the more original part

Thing is, the reason I like lain is not exactly because of the plot, anmd mainly because of the atmosphere and the themes it covers, however, the fact that the story is so abstracted, kinda limits it IMO, there is a very important plot pont that you can realize it's happening on chapter 3 but they dont confirm until chapter 8, the actual story content is very limited as that content then has to be presented in a very specific way

I've already said this to someone and they were like "Oh you just dont like thinking while watching anime", but that is just not true, thing is, I dont want for the actual story content and themes to be limited by the fact I have to think a lot about it, my favourite manga is shimeji simulation, and that one has two storylines basically, the one you read, and then the one you understand, which is isnsanely more complicated, I just like that approach a lot more

I still think that Lain is pretty good, but I just didn't really enjoy it that much personally

Takemitsuzamurai: 7/10: This ia a manga by the creator of "Ping pong", it shares a very similar artstyle, however, for one reason or another, I quite didn't get into it, which it's a shame because it seems like a very objectively good manga

Umibe no Q: 6/10: Weird slice of life sci-fi drama manga, howeer, this manga has 4 volumes, and I just dislike the last two, dont really like where the author takes the story

Kabu no Isaki: 8/10: Slice of life about flying planes, I think this one is pretty good, the art is great, it has pretty memorable scenes, the characters are good, not too long or too short, it's just a great slice of life/adventure manga all-around, if you're into that, I would recommend it

I'd recommend watching Haibane Renmei, I think it's way better executed than Lain. Pretty slow paced like the former tho.

Quoting from my MAL recommendation: You could consider Haibane Renmei and Serial Experiments Lain as sister anime, due to both being about existentialism, the protagonists are very similar in appearance and personality, there's a heavy psychological element and both also deal with sensitive topics like death or suicide. They're done by the same author as well.

Both anime have opposite characteristics as well: Serial Experiments Lain feels like the darker sister, taking place in a dystopian cybernetic world where everything is connected, while Haibane Renmei is the lighter sister which takes place in a peaceful village, isolated from the rest of the world. Serial Experiments Lain is a very complex anime, while Haibane Renmei is simple and straightforward. One rarely sees two anime complement and relate so well to each other actually.

yeah honestly, that seems more my style, may check it out in the future


Cant Defy The Lonely Girl: 8/10: cute fluffy yuri, started reading it a few years back, finally finished, so I decided to read what I had left, pretty good

Annarasumanara: 9/10: I have never seen a single manga (Or manhwa in this case) try this hard before, like, it's pretentious as fuck, but, honestly, even if it gives you a lot of reasons to hate it, I quite liked it

I think the artstyle is really good, the message is nice, it's definitively something very memorable for sure, however, it's not something I can recommend quite as easily for the reasons I said earlier, so read it, but with a bit of caution

Vinland Saga: 9/10: ultra violent viking manga, except that I liked it unlike berserk, it's true that it improves massively after chapter 100, but if you did not enjoy the first segment you're not going to enjoy the rest. Turns out, that I have no enemies

Astroid: 6/10: weird unfinished experimental manga by Keiichi Koike, it has no dialogue, I liked the art, that's about it really

Ultra Heaven: 9/10: weird unfinished experimental manga by Keiichi Koike

This is one of the most interesting mangas i've read in my entire life. Keiichi Koike is a mangaka that from their wikipedia page

In this manga, the protagonist is a total addict, and their exact status and resistance to existance drugs make them a candidate to "Go to heaven" (Kinda like reaching nirvana), it's more complicated than that but that's the idea

The story is fucking complicated, I was able to watch lain kinda nicely but this is nearly on the limit of feeling like it's total nosense, which honestly, i'm not really sure if it is. I'm not a particular fan of hyper complicated stories and this really isn't the exception, but I think the themes, concepts and art is so good, that it completely makes up for it

Part of the story is so complicated, because as I said, it was just never finished, which is a complete shame, it could maybe have been a 10/10 out of me if it was

Touhou Project Niji Sousaku Series: Sanae-san wa Iedechuu!: 8/10: one of my main problems with shuper short manga is that they dont have enough time to really explore the concepts it offers, but, if you base it on touhou or any other franchise, you kinda have a head advantage, and doesn't really feel that bad

This is a non-canonical story by one of the person that did do official touhou mangas about sanae trying out different jobs over gensyoko, it's a nice Slice of Life

Touhou Project Niji Sousaku Series: Shinigami wa Kyou mo Fune wo Kogu: 8/10: actually read this before that last one, same opinion, still not canon, and this time it's about Komachi's daily life

It has a slow start and it might even feel pretentious in the beginning, but once you get the grasp of it, then it becomes a fascinating story to read (but still dialogue-dense as hell lol). It's somewhat strong in content but I thought it was a fine experience overall. I had a long time without watching something that let me in awe.

haven't posted here in a while becasue the things I was watching/reading were long AF

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood: 6/10: watched it mainly because it was fullmetal alchemist, incredibly popular anime, super high ranked, did not know anything about it, and I found a dubbed version, so I could just put it in the second monitor while I played path of exile or something

It's a good anime, however, it didn't really have anything that blew me away, and I was also not a big fan of action scenes and stuff, so I didn't like the last 20 chapters or so as much because of that. Other than that, the characters are great, really liked them all, definitively the strongest part of the anime, and the story was pretty alright, there was a few plot points that I personally disliked, but it was overall well done

it's good, but it's just not my style

(also, just clarifying, i'm still reading primarily manga, I just watched this because I found it had a dub, already halfway through another manga, really loving it, more than fmab, so will comment on it sometime soon)

Mouryou no Hako 7/10

Okay, the story was good, but the way they told it was pretty disappointing, the pacing was HORRIBLY slow and the fact it was told in a non-linear way was unnecessary and just made it confusing and dense (Even for me who likes confusing stuff in moderation). You definitely need to know about Ubume no Natsu to get at least a grasp of who the main characters are, as this anime barely explained anything, in fact, if compared to the Ubume no Natsu manga the characters feel considerably more flat in here.

As for the animation, this has one of my favorite aesthetics in all anime I have ever seen and the soundtrack was magnificent.

I enjoyed it tho. 7/10, good but far from great.

Would I recommend it though? Most likely not.

20th century boys + 21st century boys (bundled together because they're the same manga ngl): 10/10

my favourite mistery/science fiction manga i've read

the plot is about a couple kids that plan how to conquer the world back in the 70's, and now, nearly in the change to the 21st century, they realize that someone in their old friend group has actually been pulling those plans out

this manga is GOOD, it jumps between different time periods constantly, but never in a way that really feels overwhelming or too complex, the panel structure is perfect, the pacing is amazing, the characters are great, the setting is great, the art is not too world-breaking but it's good, the level of polish that this manga has is similar to the steins;gate anime, it's just amazing

the overall plot is weird, most apparent with the ending, but, I think this just makes the manga more unique, and I appreciate that, it has lots of memorable moments for that same reason, it's also totally unpredictable up to the end, that combined with the way the manga is written and shown just leads to an amazing experience

this manga is apparently made by the same mangaka as monster, another manga I liked, not as much as this one, but one that I enjoyed, I decided to read pluto next, since it's also made by the same person

Owarinaki Gogo 5/10
One of the one shots of all time. Nothing much to say, there is barely a plot.

the plot around the ending (It very much feels like discount anohana and/or plastic memories)
the romance could be more developed. Both friendship and romance plot can go together, look at sakurasou and toradora (though bit unfair cause it's 24 vs 12eps. maybe also Silent voice) or just ditch the romance because It feels rushed af.

[Manga] Pluto: 8/10: another manga by Naoki Urasawa, where they collaborated with Osamu Tezuka, so, very high level collaboration right here

Pluto is a sci-fi mystery manga, with a big enphasis on focusing on the robot's social rights. In this universe, AIs had just been given rights, but, the overall society still were very racist torward the robots. Even if this manga was written between 2003 and 2009, it makes some very interesting points about the use of AI, stuff that could be kinda applied to the current world

the art is good, the story is good, the only thing I didn't really like about this manga was that it took a more action approach, so, unlike monster or 20th century boys, there is a lot more action fluff in my opinion, which, some people may like, but it's not my personal preference

this manga was apparently also based on astro-boy, which I did not know, I would probably have enjoyed pluto more if I had read astro-boy before that, it's not needed to understand the plot, but a lot of characters and stuff are straight up pulled from there so yeah, read it before if you want to truly enjoy pluto

this manga apparently is getting a netflix adaptation this same year, so, coming in the next 4 months, let's wait and see how that turns out


[Anime] Clannad (Season 1): 9/10 Only thing I really knew of this manga is that it's supposed to be very emotional, and, while it still hasn't broken me like other animes in this same genre, I still enjoyed it, great plot, great characters, and it does seem to build up a lot for season 2, which i'm now currently watching

[Anime] Kino no tabi (2017): 9/10: I love everything related to kino no tabi, so, I decided to watch the adaptations, Kino no tabi is a shtiroty about ae girl, kino, that in combination with their motorcycle, hermes, go exploring the world, staying 3 days in each country, this version of the story also focuses a lot of the seconday characters, really smooth animation, really thought-provoking stories, really good anime, recommendated

[Anime] Kino no tabi (2003): 10/10: The 2003 adaptation has a .ot of similarities to the 2003 version, there aare a lot of stories that repeats with almost no changes, however, while the 2017 focus more on the characters, the 2003 version is a lot stranger, mainly focusing on kino herself and the world, it's personal preference which one do you like more, I just wanted to give it a 10 to an adaptation of kino no tabi, because I feel it deserves it

[Anime] Haibane Renmei: 9/10: eblf recommendation, I did enjoy this more than lain, I really liked the characters and the plot and what it stood for, the animation was good, I've had no problems with this manga and really enjoyed it quite a bit

[Anime] Madoka Magica movie 3: Rebellion: 8/10: I'ts been a long time since I actually watched the original madoka series, however, I think I enjoyed this less than the original series, cant really say why, still a good movie tho, really good ost and animation

[Anime] Anohana: 8/10: the sad anime about schizophrenia, this was a very cool and emotional anime, however I didn't click with it as much as other sad anime. It's still good and enjoyable however, so it's still an 8



[Manga] Daichouhen Doraemon: 9/10: As a child I loved doraemon, and a while back, I realized I could read the doraemon mangas and flex to my 6yo me, and I did that, however I read daichouhen instead of original, as the original isn't completely scanlated. I enjoyed reading through doraemon, the nostalgia combines with the fact that the actual sci-fi concepts and the stories are actually quite good, I liked it


[Manga] New game!: 8/10: CGDCT that was on my plan to read since forever, it was alright, I dont have a lot to say about this one LMAO

[Manga] Solo leveling: 7/10: was on discord once looking at what animes were coming out soon, and we saw that solo leveling was getting adapted soon, remembered that this was a pretty popular manwha, my friend was interested in seeing too, know it's going to be a conversation topic when it does get animated, so I read it.

Solo leveing is the shounest shounen, after the actual plot is resolved in chapter 70, the next 130 chapters are just pure fight scenes, powerscaling, plot armor, and pure uncontrolled energy, I did not really like solo leveling, it's good for people that like shounens, I'm not that person, however there really wasn't anything on it that made me hate it like other manga, like, I've actually been able to finish it and stuff

[Manga] Heisei Umare: 8/10 Comedy 4koma that no one has ever read, it had some funny stuff, I've laughed, pretty good

[Manga] Slam dunk: 8/10: I like Takehiko Inoue, read vagabond, liked it, read real, liked it, and now i've read slam dunk, and while it is a lot more sport-focused that what I normally enjoy, it's still good, characters are interesting, however I feel that unlike real, you must already like basketball in order to actually love this manga, as it is very much really focused on that, it is also the first serialized manga that they wrote so the art-style is a lot less polished than their next two mangas, read it if you like sport mangas

[Anime] The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya: 9/10: this was a weird one for me, for one, I thought this was a standalone fild, I did not know that you were supposed to watch The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, however, surprisingly I understood the film well enough, even if I had a very different watching experience to everyone else. HOwever this experience was positive so eh

[Manga] One Piece (Holded at volume 16): 6/10: I don't know what to say about one piece, the first time I tried reading one piece, I actually enjoyed it, read the first 10 volumes, however it didn't make me want to keep reading it, so I switched reading other stuff, after that, i've given 3 more attempts to try to finish one piece, however, the same happens, continuing from where I left, I read 2 volumes, and I just dont have the need to read anymore, it's not that I dislike it, it's just that I dont want to read it anymore

I holded it instead of dropping because I know that I kinda liked the start, so, maybe in a future I give it a fith try and this time I actually get up to date with it

Haruhi is very slow paced in general and it isn't till the movie where you start seeing noticeable development. It's sad that they didn't adapt anything further, it would have been great.

[Anime] Initial D: First stage: 9/10: I started watching Initial D since I kept seeing all these songs from the anime and it being referenced constantly, and i'm really liking it

I'm not a car person, the only car I know is the toyota corolla (which happens to be the one the protagonist drives according to wikipedia), never ever watched a race IRL, and the closest to a driving simulator i've played is mario kart

however, seeing the over the top dramatic driving scenes with this blood pumping eurobeat in the background is just great. So far, initial D manages to do what a lot of sports/action animes/mangas fail to do, and that is, get me, someone with no interest in those stuff, actually feel tense and excited during one of those scenes

also, the animation feels really weird for some reason, but not really in a bad way, just that it's very unique at times and I don't think this was intentional

excited to keep watching, want to see where this goes

Sakura-sou no Pet na Kanojo: 8/10.
Good Anime. It has quite a realistic portrayal of hard work vs talent. Although it's too melodramatic in some parts and "romance", one of this anime supposed genre, is quite lacking.



5-toubun no Hanayome∽: 8/10
THE QUINTS ARE BACK. After the horrendous sh*tshow and the shocking revelation of the promised girl that was the movie, we got the "adaptations from the manga that is not in the anime", which mostly took place between the second season and the movie itself. The good thing is, this is adapted by SHAFT STUDIO. Yes THE studio that made monogatari. For the style of animation and direction, welll.. It's quite different from the two seasons but come on, it's Shaft studio we're talking about! It seems that Shaft have gotten their quality back. I mean, look at this.



THIS is wallpaper-worthy.

Story wise, I think this is a must watch after you finished the second season and before the movie. Since this OVA explains more about key plot that shouldn't have been rush by the author. As one MAL commentator said it, Shaft is doing wonders to convince me that shitty ending is good, the last 10 minutes alone is better than the last 2 seasons and the Movie man

I second this! I am not a car fanatic at all. I started watching it actually because of the Eurobeat <3
It's pretty enjoyable even if you don't care for cars. The scenes are exciting and it's different from many other shows I have come across.
I still have to finish 5th stage :c

I just finished Oshi no Ko. I have to say, it was not what I had expected at all but it was good, I love the animation and the characters. I feel like the show did not resolve the "main idea" or at least I thought it was the main idea based on the prologue... I am sure the second season will get to all that. Very good build-up.

[Manga] 3-gatsu no Lion: 9/10: 3-gatsu no lion is a very weird manga, one of the most apparent ways is on the ammount of text displayed at once, I mean it, I have never seen a manga with more text, (except shimeji simulation chapter 44)

the ammount of texts displayed at once reminds me of japanese ads, thing is, even if you have the dialogue of the characters, you also have this black stripes with a internal monologue of the protagonist, which is not necessarily related to the theme, and it forces you to first read all the dialogue, and then re-read the page reading the monologue

Also, the pattern structure is non-standard, which I like, and it has some very pretty art, that can get very psychological at times

3-gatsu no lion is a manga about a load of stuff, the story itselfs mainly revolves around shogi, but it's not just about shogi, it's about why do they want to be a shogi player, why are they a shogi player, what is he going to do with the winnings, what does this other character think of them, what is the backstory fo that character, etc

this manga tackles a lot of ideas, it talks about love, competition, money, school, bullying, etc, and it keeps flipping from one to the other in a really quick fashion

honestly if you're into shogi/chess, and like dramas, this manga is absolutely insane, I really enjoyed it

also, manga is not finished, just caught up

[Manga] [Dropped at volume 16]: GTO: 4/10 (Sorry anaxii): I liked the first 3 volumes, were it was the backstory of onizuka, however, after that, I feel it kinda does become a pretty predictible, ecchi, comedy manga, which is not what I expected. And I dont see it really changing it much, so I dropped it. I had the impression that it was something more drama/plot focused, but after the start it's not really, onizuka recieves plot armor and it's just funny scenes with the students, not something I enjoy

I normally dont edit my posts to add new stuff, but I wanted to write this review now since I want to link it on a OT topic, and I don't know how much time will pass until someone else posts here, so I will just do this now

Termina: 8/10: Just to make clear, this manga is not fully translated, which is a shame, since I was liking it

Termina (Or terumina) is an avant-garde manga about a small catgirl journiying through the bizarre world on a train, she just gets in the train, and while on the travel or in the stops, she mets weird people in weird circustances,

The art-style is really good, I think it was by far the strongest element, the panel structure is really good too, everything on the visual side is pretty strong, and complements the story perfectly

about the story, it's weird. It doesn't have an overarching plot, at least one I've seen in the chapters that are translated, instead, every destination and chapter it's standalone, kinda like a panpanya manga, and I like panpanya, so I liked that

in fact, I feel the panpanya energy is very strong on this one, in many ways, it's like a more hardcore/extreme version of their works. panpanya a lot of the times bases their stories on true stuff, and then explains it on a wall of text at the end of the chapter, and in termina the same happens! giving explanation of mainly the trains that are featured in the manga

It's a really good short read, it wasn't as impactful as ultra heaven or as breaking as shimeji simulation, but comparing anything, specially avant garde works like this to those, it's a really high bar, I would recommend reading it, and if you like it, consired reading panpanya's work or shimeji simulation, maybe even ultra heaven if you want an even more hardcore experience

also, this thread has given me an idea about making a thread entirely about the avant-garde, that would be interesting, I feel a lot of the best avant-garde works is missing that tag on myanimelist, and I think it's a problem

I wondered why people loved this anime, why there were so many shitposting of it, and most importantly...



WHO THE HECK WAS HER?!

Well, my questions were answered quite satisfactorily, by showing me one of the most unexpectedly wholesome comedies I have ever witnessed. It showed one of the best portrayals of friendship one could ask for, friends you can trust, friends you can joke with, friends behaving stupidly, and most importantly a genuine and organic feeling of belonging. The protagonists might seem pretty stereotypical, but they eventually grow to be better people and achieving the goals they propose. Azumanga Daioh is pretty lighthearted for the most time but it isn't devoid of thoughts like the fact that youth isn't eternal and that you got to enjoy it with the people that love you.

On the comedy side, this anime didn't stay behind. I laughed REALLY loud at every chapter, most of the jokes are white humor (with a few black comedy in there which was funny too). It's impressive how first, they didn't try to overwhelm the audience, and second, how jokes didn't felt repetitive, although, there were a few jokes that didn't land or were dragged for way longer than they should have, but overall, a great comedy from which I understand why many other anime were inspired by the formula and how CGDCT surged from it.

This anime will have a place in my heart surely, my faith in humanity is restoring.

[manga] Kaguya-sama: Love Is War: 8/10: This was one of te first mangas i've ever read, I watched the anime, first season, I liked it, and then a friend bought the physical mangas continuing from where the anime left off, the last they bought was volume 14, and that was where I left it

currently, I decided to actually finish it, as by the 14th volume, the plot, the actual thing the manga is about is resolved by that volume, so I expected it to be one or two more volumes, however, there were 14 others, there was a total of 28th volumes

it was alright? I guess?, since theplot finished, there really wasn't any of those incredibly over the top funny mind ghames, which were my favourite part, and other than that, it just goes for way longer than it should, this manga would have been a lot of better if it was only 20 volumes or even 16 IMO


[manga] Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou: 8/10: pretty good manga, it's just very relaxing, I really love the theme and the setting, the art was nice too, just a pretty nice, relaxing manga

[manga] Kagurabachi: 6/10?: I mean, it only has 1 chapter so far, and I read it for the memes, I dont even like the genre

Golden time 8.5/10 the story was decent

[Anime] Initial D: Fifth stage / Initial D: Final Stage: 9/10: finally finished initial D, really good, cars drifting with an amazing ost, it was very enjoyable, apparently there is a sequel coming soon called MF ghost, apparently the manga isn't as good as initial D but the trailer does have eurobeat, so I will probably check it out when it comes out

Boogiepop wa Warawanai (2019) - 8/10

I'd say that this version of Boogiepop was also good, with a more understandable story yet, the horror elements were toned down a bit and the pacing was really weird to follow. I really liked the arcs in general but I feel like many pieces were left.

I learned recently that this only adapted 4 of the 24 volumes of Boogiepop novels that have been released so far.

Uchuu Kyoudai: 9/10:

This is by far the longest manga i've read, not only it's longer on volume count than anything else (43 volumes), but it's also a lot more dialogue heavy than the previous super long mangas I had read, not 3-gatsu no lion or shimeji simulation chapter 44 levels of text heavy, but it's still more than something like vagabond or vinland saga. Also, this manga it's not finished, it's still ongoing

about the manga itself, it's really good, it's a story about two astrounaut brothers, which takes place in the utopical year of 2025, where apparently nasa still has good enough budget to make moon missions and have had it for a long time, which is sadly not something that has really happened

it's mainly a drama, and a really good one at that, the story flow is basically perfect, everything connects so well with the rest of the story, and it also has very interesting and memorable scenes, the art is nothing out of this world but it's still good.

It's just overall a really good manga about astronauts, would recommend

Heppoko Jikken Animation Excel♥Saga 7/10

Started really strong but the comedy fell apart in the latter half, second to last episode was a great ending and the controversial episode 26 was... euh... well, might upset some people but it's far from the worst stuff I have seen. Most overrated last episode imo.

Penguindrum: 9/10: I love penguins, they're my favourite animal, so I watched penguindrum

The first half is pretty typical comedy/drama anime with penguins doing silly stuff, I enjoyed that, however, the second half is wild

they kinda just take all the concepts of the firsrt half and push them into the extreme, and it turns into a very complex and deep plot where the drama element is a lot heavier, I like the concept of penguindrum, I like where the story goes and what ideas it tackles. Honestly, this is an anime that if it really clicks with you, you're goin to absolutely love it forever, but if it doesn't fully click, it's still pretty enjotable. It's overall a good anime, I would recommend it

Mononoke 9/10

Okay, I had a long time without an anime leaving me in awe, the animation was strong and consistent, a nice set of stories, a great protagonist and the fact that this could have had more seasons... but it didn't. Really, I need more of this, but sadly this is an original anime so that means there's no source material and the manga was just an adaptation of what we saw in the anime. Either way, I am impressed that they managed to put FIVE well-developed stories in a matter of 12 episodes without it feeling rushed as well.

The only other thing that I didn't like apart from the extremely short story (I NEED MOAR ;w;) were the overuse (and misuse) of screamers. And basically none of them work, they rather felt like something disgusting to hear rather than something scary, with the notable exception of a few ones that were indeed disturbing.

A final note: the opening is SENDO CUMBIÓN.

[manga] Game-bu: 9/10: this technically isn't a manga but a doujinshi, however it's pretty good

I initially learned about this manga a year back when I was talking to zizou, the developer of undertale 2 and the upcoming gimmiko (wishlist gimmiko on steam), since the manga is a SoL about game development, and he saw a pretty funny scene

for the most part, this a pretty normal and cute SoL, however, near the end of the manga, there is certainly a very very amazing story arc, one that is normally very risky for this genre, and they pulled it off perfectly, making for a really above average SoL, would absolutely recommend

Don't Toy me Miss Nagatoro 2nd Attack 7/10

It's a very funny and a romantic anime, and would recommend it to people that like slice of life and a little sign of romance. some scenes were also emotional, and I also seemed to choke up to some of them. I was quite disappointed at the ending though, but ehh, the manga is still going, so I can't really blame lol.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica 9/10

A well delivered suspense I must say, it had the right amount of angst and excitement that I expected. Sorta mindblowing too, especially in the animation side.

I think the animation on this anime is better than some anime in this current time (or maybe just me) but feels like the quality decreasing each episode. I have read the manga, and quite enjoy it. I would say overall it's good for me.

What's so wrong about the season 2 btw? I just think that the story is not good enough but that's it. The characters are well written

from the top of my head. The first like 3 chapters it sets up a story, then randomly timeskips skipping what seemed like an arc entirely, to then resurrect one dead character with no build-up to it in a way that just seems like a deus ex machina, to then start telling a plot totally different from the manga with increasingly worse animation and absolutely no pacing, creating no tension and drama. Add taht with the fact that the first season was a masterpiece and this season just killed the possibility for a season 3 or whatever.

Insomniacs After School: 9/10: had already read up to chapter 90, a while back but there wasn't any more chapters released, recently it finished so I just finished the rest of the manga. Probably one of the best romance stories, very good art and themes, very likeable characters, great setting, this is a very high 9

Neeko wa tsurai yo: 7/10: cute SoL about a neet, already read most of it, just read the last volume that just recently got translated. IT's alright, dont really like the ending tho

Re:Cycle of the Penguindrum: 7/10

Compliation movie with re-recorded voices, new scenes for (non-sexual) fanservice that enhance the story (by a little bit) and a new opening. I'd say it's a bad idea to watch without having watched Penguindrum first and only to watch if you really liked Penguindrum but are too lazy to rewatch. I kinda wish they added these scenes to the original series (maybe in a rerun) and make a perfect version.

Very funny, even though the humor is kind of bordeline-
I really like Panty's behavior in this anime; not the fact that she's a... yeah... but the fact that she expresses her feeling more than everyone (mostly in the epsiodes 12 and 13!!)

- Stocking is cool too, she's kind of like me: a petty person lol
- Brief is kind of the nerd of the anime, but he's caring so I like him!
- CHUCK KEEPS SUFFERING AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

cute paranormal slice of life, still ongoing, definitively has some potential, but being honest I expect this to just be another nice little slice of life and nothing particullary special, only has one volume out yet so cant really say much
