For the rhythm choice, you can prioritize only one or two prominent sounds instead. That way you can decrease the rhythm density to match the song whilst keeping the core rhythm itself. Personally I'd go for anything that has strong sound on downbeat first.
For the spacing and SV, keep things low/moderate as always.
Also utilize passive rhythm as well. Instead of two circles, one on downbeat and other on less important beat, you can use a slider for that, the slider head on downbeat and slider tail on the other, for example.
