You could try playing with the UI off. Maybe it's your nerves causing you to miss.

On-topic, just give yourself time. You can catch the lightning in the bottle again, but you can't bet on that 1-in-a-million happening twice in a row, relatively speaking. You almost got it once, so it's clear you have the skill. It's just a matter of turning a fluke into regularity.

It's not like I go about crowing it from the rooftops every chance I get, but yeah.
I haven't had any serious issues with using the default skin, so I see no reason to change it. That may or may not change when I actually get to 6-7* maps, possibly, but for right now I don't see a problem.

Looks like that's gonna take a while. I personally find the default skin to be pretty jarring and outdated. Granted of course it's because it's literally like the first skin in the game so I wouldn't hate on it that much.
