you can try hitting to the beat in taiko, its easy to listen with drum like taiko
You could also try with easier songs so you can focus on the accuracy / see the replay with auto because the offset may be off and tapping to the beat would still be not fully accurate for the game

It is also easier to play hidden on an AR level that you are most comfortable with already, the method will still work.
personally i use eyes even if i use hidden XD just cant click to beats
It's good that you can use your eyes to judge "when" to click, but I won't say your eyes will determine when you have to click on the circles. Try to listen to the music and get used to the rhythms of it so you can play it comfortably. I think that the biggest issue here is probably you not knowing how to be in tune with the BPM. For that, I can give you some advice:
- Don't play maps with too complex rhythms because it may confuse you while playing; try to familiarize yourself with the song that you're playing of course.
- If you think you are constantly clicking too early or too late, changing the universal/local beatmap offset might be a good idea.
- Hidden is an option (even if it didn't particularly help me to know how to be in rhythm with the music) but if you think that you're having too much trouble with it, I can recommend you to play with NM.

Put more of an emphasis in listening to the rhythm. Focus on the song more, listen in on that bpm, even sing along and let your body go with the flow, etc.
