If you are meaning in-game chats then you just need to type the command /join #<channel name> for example if you wanted to join #osu you type
if you are meaning how to start a PM (private message) with someone then you can do /msg <username> or /query <username> (for example

ello, u can always just open the chat with the "F8" key.
then click on that lil cross button.
and then u get to choose or search for yourself the channel u wanna be on.
after that u got ur channel again, nothing happened
