How to judge whether the spacing is correct

Although I have made several jump maps, most of the time, I find someone to mod my beatmaps. Most people will point out the spacing problem, saying that I should expand the spacing when I should not expand the spacing, and should reduce the spacing when I should not reduce the spacing. How to determine if the spacing is correct.

for me personally spacing is decided based on the intensity of the song, if the song is really intense, increase spacing. if the song is pretty calm, use smaller spacing.

Yeah the key here is the intensity.

Besides the obvious, such as calm part having smaller spacing or chorus part should have the largest, I'd think you should consider breaking those main sections to smaller parts and adjust accordingly from there.

For example, melody going up/down usually means the intensity is going up/down, so you can accelerate/decelerate the spacing in order to reflect that.
