Timing too unspecific - Change BPM?

So, I've been making my first beatmap, but an issue has come up. I'm trying to time with "double triplets", and the song is on-beat overall, but a couple beats fall between the points where I'm allowed to add circles. What would be most advisable to do? Double the BPM? Or maybe use sliders at those points?

Thank you in advance!

I am a little worried about your current settings for timing. Unless your song is some classical piece or something, everything should be on beat or fairly close. On top of that, you are using sixth notes which rarely ever appear. I advise you get the timing checked asap unless you really think you know what you are doing because there is a high chance that either the entire timing is wrong or there are multiple timing sections.

Assuming you know what you are doing, the first question I would ask, does the song sound like it needs double the BPM? If your BPM is between 100-200 and does not have ridiculously fast instruments, don't double the BPM. Also, if your song still sounds off after you double the BPM, please do not try doubling the BPM again (almost certainly something is wrong if that scenario occurs). Beyond that, you should not be in a scenario where you have to use a slider to cover up a location (there are a few exceptions like offbeat vocals which will require you to play around a bit). Only use sliders when they fit, don't force them.

In summary, get your timing checked. If it is fine, feel free to either double the BPM or use sliders as long as they fit.

Ah-ha! It seems that the BPM was a bit slow. It used to be 82 and I doubled it to 164, and now it works perfectly!

Thanks! Using sliders would just cover up existing timing problems instead of solving them, right? I was really worried about doubling the BPM, but since it seems to have solved my problems directly, I won't need to approach it like some sort of fanged beast anymore. :D

There IS a song with offbeat vocals i was wanting to do, but I'm saving that one for when I'm more experienced. Everything's on beat with this song, it's just that the BPM was too low!

I really didn't expect it to solve the whole problem... But if there's anything else that turns out to be wrong, I'll just ask. Or solve it myself!

Thank you!

Didn't really get what you mean here.

Actually it is better if you upload your map and there will be loads of ppl willing to help you with it. And for your acknowledment, 164 doesn't mean it will be 164 sharp. sometime it can goes 164.01 too, where 164.00 usually off beat like 30ms or so by the end of song. Usually 4min+ song

Are you making sure you're increasing the Beat snap divisor, as it sounds to me like you just have it showing white ticks.

Oh, I was saying that if I used sliders to "cover up" beat problems, it might just get even more off-beat down the road, so it would be better to address the timing directly.

And of course, this beatmap is madness. I have detected what may be symptoms of drift, but seriously I'm pretty sure that the part where it may or may not have started drifting is more on-beat than the beginning. Gaaah! This is so frustrating! (Could it perhaps be the offset? Or a decimal amount of BPM?) I'm still having a blast, though! :D

Hmm... if I upload my map, do I have to start a new topic?

Does it matter that my map is pretty terrible right now? >_>

Ah, the FAQ! But of course!

So, erm... if it doesn't matter that it's bad and woefully incomplete, I'll upload it! It's better to upload now and get the timing right than it is to try and do it on my own and have to redo the whole thing, right?

Thanks, everyone!
