I can play songs at 4.5 pretty easily, but the moment I try to play something higher, ie. a 4.7 or 4.8, I can't even pass them. I feel as if my fingers can hit the notes, but I'm having a hard time reading things consistently. Some days I'll read around a 5 star, others I can barely read a 4.3. Any tips on improving reading to be more consistent?

The guy above me is right. But you can also use another ways, try turning your scroll dow by 1 or playing the map on lower rates, you can always try to play with hidden or flashlight. The reason among the reading going good and bad some days may be because of your sleep or because you are tired. This area of the game is really anoying to look at star rating so pay attention to the patterns like jacks and streams
