What's the best practice method when changing noteskins?

I feel like my old circle 4k skin is holding me back when it comes to improvement, so I tried changing skins to much wider circle skins but my accuracy is completely off either I'm consistently hitting early or late depending on which skin I choose (which could be hit position).

Is there any specific methods I should start using if I am trying to get used to a new skin, or is there any way to change the skin's hit-position and how it looks like to match the old hit-position I am used to?

^ This is just some direction I thought of that might help solve my problem, but if you have anything else that might help, please reply with it

what makes you think your skin is holding you back?

if you think you need to change your skin to combat a specific problem, it should be pretty straightforward to adjust to. However theres a pretty good chance that changing your skin isn't going to have a significant impact one way or another. it is worth noting that scroll speed is closely tied to the size of the note images- smaller notes = lower perceived scroll speed. larger = faster. be sure you compensate for any size differences with your skin via your scroll speed unless you're trying to adjust to a new skin and a new perceived scroll speed at the same time (which probably isnt going to be very easy)

to answer your question about hitposition, its as simple as opening the skin.ini file of your old skin, finding the value for hitposition, then putting that into the skin.ini file for the new skin.

smaller, thinner, spaced out circles which i believe could be making patterns harder to read than they really are , because due to the note shapes, there are going to be a larger amount of notes on the screen (more notes to comprehend at a time)

which is why I want to try a skin that has much wider, thicker, and closely spaced circles that less notes on the screen (less notes to comprehend at a time)

The osu! default skins holds me back from getting Perfect hits (mainly because I hadn't use it in a while) Try using a arrow-skin (Like a DDR or a StepMania skin) that's how I good at timing perfect hits-using a arrow skin. (Well according to your scores, you probably don't need a arrow-skin anyways, but again-your also talking about "skin's hit-position" so it could still be helpful, but I'll get to that soon.) ) After I got used to hitting perfect hits I switched my skin to "Clearium". I think you should try to find a skin that's good for you, and that you are comfortable with. If I need practice on hitting hits flawlessly I usually play StepMania, Quaver, or change my noteskin to a DDR/StepMania/Arrow-type skin. Pick a skin you like, not a skin that you might have second thoughts before using/downloading.
Also if it's the skin's hit-position that bothers you I recommend trying to practice where the 300 or 300RainbowMax hitbox is, If that doesn't help switch to a arrow-skin or a skin like "Clearium". I can't think of anything to say so I'll be playing some maps.

I really changed skin a lot back then. From ArrowMania, SillyFanGirl, DDR, SM, Dividebyzero, and probably have used all of the top 20 most popular arrow skins. I used to play with 60, then I felt like changing it to 100, got used to it and can't go back. But then I changed from 80, 70 and more until going back to where I was.

I think modifying receptor size is more important than any aspect of noteskin. Do try to experiment with different receptor sizes, and find one you feel like you can improve on- why not the one you are better with? Getting used to it takes a fair amount of time.

Hitposition is important too, but it also depends on your scroll speed. IMO, lower scroll speed means higher hitposition. You should probably start at 480 and then mess with it 5 at a time until you find the one you're comfortable with.

I used to play with the old white Jakads skin with 100 columnsize. You said you wanted less notes per view, and I think high columnsize solves it. It won't be pretty though, unless the ntoeskin is specifically made for it.
