I heard that people get mindblocked on 3* and 4* for 4k.

Well, ive been stuck on the 4* mindblock for a year already now. Though its fair since i haven't been playing that much this year, and the fact that i've been playing standard mode more because of it (1,7k plays in one month its not even funny. I only had 2k plays on mania after 7 months or so).

I'm doing great in standard, as i have passed 5* map with B rank as a 7 digit lol. But i still cant get past 4* at all in mania

Play from 2 months ago

Maybe some advice? Thanks in advance

1. Have you been playing many different maps?

If for all of the maps, you get stuck, you will need to change how you play.

1.1) Change skin
1.2) Change scroll speed & hit position
1.3) Change physical position
1.4) Change keyboard bindings
1.5) etc.

2. Do you take breaks often? How often?

People who take breaks sometimes will end up skillboosting a lot or rust a lot, it's a gamble

3. Is it a mindblock? Or is it too hard for you?

For (3.) note that if you've mindblocked a map entirely, you won't improve if you play more of it
Playing a map obviously too hard (even just a pattern), will always yield a negative result if you can't read what's going on.

Accuracy

Looking at your top plays, most of your scores are <2:1 ratio, including a score that is above 98%
ref. scores/mania/376315317

Accuracy might be a problem, try to aim for at least a 2:1 ratio of the best 2 judgements.
e.g. 300g should be more than 2 times 300

This matters because you might not be deliberately hitting the notes on time, instead, you're approximating visually, which may not be as accurate. If you start to hit more deliberately, you might improve more.

Personally, I hit deliberately by syncing my actual keyboard sound to the music, so I have a global offset of -63ms, this way, the keyboard sounds are synced exactly.
Lights
the best way to avoid mindblock is to not grind a small set of charts. play something and forget about it for like a month

I used to be mindblocked on 4* for a few months, and I would make the same posts on forums as you are doing right now. So hopefully some tips from someone who had the same experience as you will help.

Here's what I did to conquer this 4* mindblock:

- Got help from lights (user above this post)
- Played and downloaded A LOT more beatmaps (specifically jumpstreams, chordjacks, LNs) but you should practice all different patterns. When I say A LOT, I mean my beatmaps went from only 600 to around 3,000. And I still try to download as much beatmaps as I can to improve my skill, and I have GIGABYTES of beatmaps.
- Chose an easier skin to read (I used a simple circle skin called LOLflashlight)
- Increased scroll speed for easier reading (mine is at 31 right now, but you may want a little lower if you have a lower hz monitor, completely doable with only 60hz)
- Motivation to gain PP (and to pass other players that I knew)
- Motivation to play the game, and enjoy playing maps (not just for PP)
- Playing maps at YOUR skill level, don't try anything higher than 5.00* if you can't do well in most 3 or 4* maps. Mashing notes and trying to read dense patterns at higher difficulties will NOT improve your skill. Slowly work your way up in map difficulty (osu!mania does not have an accurate map difficulty system so there may be maps that seem too hard or too easy to be that certain difficulty, even now there are some high 4* maps I cannot even S)
- Download 4k Dans to see where your skill level is at - https://bloodcat.com/osu/?q=625751&c=s&s=&m=&g=&l=

Doing all of these things may not guarantee progression, and they did not work right away for me. Every time I would gain PP or complete difficult beatmaps, I would get hardstuck again. It would happen so many times that I would increase in skill in bursts. Eventually, I managed to get amazing scores on maps that I used to mindblocked on. The most important thing is having the motivation and perseverance to keep playing and learning, so don't give up! :D

technically mindblock is on a specific map if its all maps then you just hit a wall. play more maps u didnt play before and dont take a lot of breaks unless injury or something idk

first of all id like to apoligize for replying late. Its my first forum post so i didnt know that osu doesnt tell me when theres a reply to my post. And thank you for supplying me with answers.

1. Have you been playing many different maps?
Yes. I have 4000+ maps in total for specifically mania.

1.1) Change skin
I have roughly 20 skins for mania and I have tested most of them by playing the same map with different skins, and until now ive been using the best one.

1.2) Change scroll speed & hit position
I was good enough to read 30, but now im rusty and went back to 25 from testing.

1.3) Change physical position
I dont really have much of an option as i play on a laptop with a portable study laptop.

2. Do you take breaks often? How often?
I usually only play when i dont have anything else better to do. And most of the time i get better. I usually keep playing until i stop improving which usually happens after 1 week of playing. And then id come back after a month or so

3. Is it a mindblock? Or is it too hard for you?
Sorry for the confusion, but i meant that i hit a wall and stopped improving.

I guess i'll step away from 4* for now and try to get at least a 3* 99% FC first. I have the same problem on standard mode lol.
