DT in taiko is MUCH less forgiving in taiko than other game modes because how it affects hit windows. Something like an OD 6 map suddenly becomes OD 9.5, which requires extremely good accuracy to play well. So if you want to become good at DT, you need to focus on your accuracy. A lot.
