So I had osu on my pc for about 3 years but didn't really pick it up until now. My main reason for getting into osu now is because I'm heading off to college next year and would like to pick up a game where I can play here and there without being too noisy for any future fellow dorm members, but now that I'm into it, I think I'll be here for a while.

I can currently pass 3* with ease, 4* with a bit more effort, and can last an ok amount into 5-6* maps.

Are there any tips to improve? I understand the constantly reiterated "play more", and I'm more than willing to do that(I play 2-3hrs a day), that's how I got good at minecraft pvp, but are there any other things I should know?

first off, welcome (back) to osu!

I don't play standard that much anymore (and i'm not really good by any means at all lol), but when I was still playing, I found it important to practice different gameplay mechanics (?) in the game such as triples, jumps, streams, etc... and to often play a wide variety of maps to get yourself familiar with other patterns (more technical maps for example that force you to practice your reading in beatmaps)

For this one I'm sure people have different opinions on it, but the way I improved myself is that I would make sure I would consistently FC beatmaps of a certain star difficulty range with high accuracy before moving on to a higher diff. That doesn't mean trying higher diff maps isn't allowed at all, I just tended to focus on the difficulty range that was more within my capabilities at the time. Basically, I just found being consistent to be pretty important, but hey it could be different for you and that's alright

And yeahhh, of course, "play more" will always be a part of the advice hahahah but don't forget to have fun too! :>

Try to play maps with streams, jumps, bursts, low bpm, high bpm, big AR, low AR.
Try every mod and combine them.
Bad at something? Train that bad part of your skill the most.
Also playing maps at >90% acc won't do you better, it's like 5-6 misses with tons of 100's (but if really it's just will take more time to improve).

P.s. Also that's wrong topic to choose. You'd better make this at "Gameplay & Rankings"
