Wacom Bamboo Polling Rate (48 Hz with the Touch input)

I've just bought myself a Wacom Bamboo tablet (pen & touch) and I have been using it with Windows XP. The problem is that there is a HUGE difference between the polling rate of the pen input and the touch input of the tablet. When I use the pen to move the cursor on the screen, I get an average rate of 140 Hz.

When I use the Bamboo's touchpad and move the cursor with my finger, I get an average rate of 48 Hz.

That's almost 3 times lower than the pen input. :( The low rate of 48 Hz when using the touch input causes windows to lag when I drag them around on the screen, and the web browser window continues to scroll upto 1 second after I remove my fingers from the Bamboo's touchpad. Is there any way I can increase the polling rate just for the touch input mode, so that it's 125 Hz or higher?

So, my monitor only supports 60Hz refresh, but I really want to have that fluid 120Hz in gaming. Is there anyway I can make my monitor refresh at 120Hz?

Your analogy sucks. :P :lol:

Around 10 years ago in Windows 98, I had a couple of mice which I used to overclock the polling rate to 125 Hz from around 48 Hz. So I know it's possible to overclock the polling rate for some input devices, to get much better response times from them. Just because the Wacom Bamboo touch input comes with a default rate of around 48 Hz, it doesn't mean it can't go any higher with some tweaking.

I know it's possible to hack Wacom drivers, as I know of an artist who uses hacked Cintiq drivers.
I haven't been able to find anyone else who has done so, though.

the dynamics between a mouse and a pen tablet are completely different, for one

i sincerely doubt the low polling rate is an enforced limitation by the hardware, but rather a defect of your product or a likely side effect of 'dll hell' commonly associated with long-term xp usage

Can someone on here with a Wacom Touch/Pen tablet confirm that the average polling rate for touch input is around 48 Hz?

The freeware program at the following URL can be used to check the rate of the input.

Wacoom bamboo fun pen & touch. I do get an average of 25 - 30 for the touch input.

Hmmmm, that's pretty low. What PC specs and OS are you using with the tablet? Do you have the tablet plugged into a USB 2.0/3.0 port, or USB 1.0? Also, what is your average rate for pen input?

For pen input is the same like you, around 140. USB 2.0 port, Windows XP 32bits, E2160 OC 2.7, 2GB DDR2. I had an average of 50 - 60 touching some options from the bamboo driver configuration, I cant remember it right now.

PD: Restarted my pc, I have an average of 50 to 60. I just use two options from the tactil function (tap with a finger and tap with two fingers).
