age when you first made genuine friends
Achromalia
i don't recall. i couldn't tell who was genuine or not. it all just... happened. i moved on.

i don't think very many people actually felt i was that great of a person back then, for whatever reason. maybe i just think of myself as shitty person in general. all i had been known as in elementary, was the smart math whiz and teacher's pet that was oxymoronically idiotic beyond words.

anyhow, i do know that many of the friends i've made that i know and trust for certain were made back in what i call "hell".

the poor little middle school that us unfortunate souls stumbled into. somehow, there were some really nice students.

then i met some people. i found people i could talk to and genuinely be comfortable with, in mutual terms.

13.

Achromalia
i'm not sure.

i can't tell whether the people i've lost and the people i've seen die were people i deeply cared for.

...

i think so.

one girl. i never got to see her after elementary school. she was nice.

and another. she was polite beyond words, and mute, without words.

i don't recall either.

i was certainly young. my dad was obsessed with the concept of obedience. he still is, all these years later.

disobedience is worthy of punishment.

or so he feels.

Your age when falling in love for the first time

Never. I kinda fear it tbh.

You discovered a hobby you currently most enjoy.
Tad Fibonacci
5 years old.

It was when I think I played my first video game. It might've been earlier but I don't really remember.

Same question.
ERA Puzzle
It really depends on how specific you want to get. And I'm not even sure what hobby I enjoy most. Guess it's a tie between drawing and playing games. But even then it's like do I count specific games above others? And the reason I like playing games is my main drive for playing them, so should I answer that?

If the answer is art, 22. If the answer is games, 6. If the answer is being competitive, which is why I play games now and what really drives my gaming as a hobby, 12. When I discovered Osu I was like 16. League, 14. Archeblade 17, I think? Not really sure on that one. Might be 18.

Same quesh.
Achromalia
Hard to tell.

Music and art were never things I saw as hobbies, but they may be fairly commonly cited, so I'll go off of that.

primarily, art. i dabbled in music casually but never cared to do much with it until later on, when i was 9 or so. i then developed an affinity for it by age 12.

but art was somethin' i enjoyed and worked with for a long while, often drawing out of boredom on blank textbook and workbook pages in the middle of class while still in elementary school. i'd tear out every blank page I could. so as far as drawing, i'd say that mostly began when i was 7. the extensive variety of terrible doodles and even worse penmanship were especially memorable and indicative of a time where i just couldn't get my hands off the crayons and pencils.

your age when you first found the internet?
pundice
~4. I'm relatively young (13), so the internet has been out for my entire life. I remember my first memory of using the internet, and it was in my old house in Mexico, and I was sitting on my mom's lap as she explained the very basics of a PC. I was very advanced for my age at the time, so I understood it all, and ever since then, I've been addicted.

My question is a double question - your age when you found osu, and your age now?
Achromalia
i'd been around 13 or so. i'm 16 as of now.

age when you first had an interest for the arts?

your age when you first developed strong hatred towards someone/something

I was maybe in 4th grade, so about 9-10, when I hated my dad. I was young and didn't know what hatred really was. I don't believe in condoning hatred anymore.

When you first had suicidal/deathly thoughts
Achromalia
I don't think I ever had incredibly strong suicidal feelings. I frankly didn't care enough to kill myself.

But it'd be possible.

That was when I had been 13, 14 or so.

Now I prefer to just wait until I die, for the sake of at least being able to experience something. Life's kinda nice, even if it's terribly agonizing as well.

This is quite an uncomfortable question, but I'll take it, I'm kinda bored.

I used to get them when I was really young, I'm thinking around 8, due to mental health issues.
However, now these issues are improving, I'm really optimistic about life.
Not quite used to this, but I enjoy it all the same.

Question: If you play a multiplayer card game by yourself, and a 'player' (which you play) won (meaning that all the other 'players' you play lose), did you win the card game, or did you lose it?

your age when you first won at a competitive event of sorts?

My mind isn't exactly working today lmao.

I've never really taken part in competitions. GCSEs are forced, and Osu! I'm a solo player and just enjoy to see myself get better at the game.

I think I was 17.
It was only a small league high school championship.
We didn't get first place but we did managed to secure the second.
The cash that we won wasn't a huge amount but we had fun.
We spent all of it on pizzas.

When I was 14 I participated in the first robotic competition, which is a tournament where school compete for who can build the best robot in 6 week to play a certain game that changes every year. My team didn't win but we did get to the semi-final of the Montreal regional. I also participated at 15 and 16 but we didn't get past the qualification these 2 years.

Don't remember my exact age as it's been forever since, but I was between 6 and 9. As a kid, I was doing light athletics and our club would enter competitions sometimes, ended up getting first place during one of those. I have no idea how I won though, I was always good at running, speed and stamina, but don't remember being particularly good at the other categories. I wonder at what age kids usually start being affected by nerves / selfawareness, because I remember that back then, I was feeling as if it was any other day, no pressure, no nerves, but I also didn't understand what it meant when I won and probably didn't understand what it meant to compete, either (which is probably why I felt zero pressure and maybe gave me quite a big advantage), I was happy though since everyone from my club was happy for me, I remember that.

You realized your purpose in life
ERA Puzzle
Ah... I don't really recall when I decided all of reality was a pretty subjective thing. It was a slow process that probably took from the age of... 17 to like 20? I don't know. But that was kind of when I decided what my purpose was.

SQ
Achromalia
no real answer, i guess.

i just kinda move on without any particular purpose to live. i don't care to die, primarily. i feel i have no good reason to die other than relieve others of the burdens i weigh on them.

as pointless as life seems to me, death would be equally as pointless.

i just want to see what i can do and create. maybe it'll be nice. perhaps i'll actually enjoy what i wind up making, and i could actually manage something decent.

otherwise, i'll just live it out to the end to see what happens.

if i die, i suppose i don't really care. i'm dead, so i'd be incapable of doing so.

- - -

SQ. it's an interesting one, perhaps someone believes they do have a purpose. an intriguing position being that you can make your own purpose in life, that it's not necessarily to be realized, rather, just something you make of it on your own terms.
samX500
I am not sure but ever since I was 16 (am 18 now) I have been starting to think about myself and this thinking brang me to the realization that there is no absolute purpose in life and that life simply cannot have an absolute purpose if you believe that we are just some organism that semi-randomly evolved into the human kind. The only way for your life to have a purpose is if you decide to give yourself one but we aren't born with one.

SQ
Kyomaku
Probably when I was 22 or 23. Around that time a close friend told me that he views his time spent as meaningful as long as he's enjoying himself. I've been going through a lot of hardships and setbacks and still am, so I've often felt depressed, thinking about how I get older and older without much real progress in life, so that view helps me quite a bit, as long as I'm having fun and enjoying my time, I haven't "wasted it". I guess you can always set goals that you want to achieve and you can make accomplishments, but at the end of the day, all of that turns into a memory the second it's gone past, after that, the only thing that is left is how you feel. If you enjoy thinking back and can draw continuous happiness from past achievements, that's great and gives them more meaning (from my perspective), otherwise they'd just be time killed and you could have done litereally anything else, too, unless it of course affects your future in a physical way, too, such as a better job, a relationship, etc.

Here's the twist though, I do think everyone has one general purpose and it is meaningful, which is to leave something behind for future generations. You're born into a family with infrastructure, set up by your peers and are able to enjoy your life thanks to their prior and continuous work, I think it's only fair to not waste their efforts and ensure that your future generations (your own offspring maybe even) can have the same, or an even better start into their life than yours.

I've been learning english at school since my childhood so probably around 5. However, when I was younger I didn't care about learning english as I thought it was useless (yes I really do want to punch my past self in the face) and I only started to seriously learn it at 16 years old.

sq
Carmlillball
I've been learning French since I was probably 8. However, I didn't take it seriously until I turned 14.
I've stopped learning it 3 months ago, in order to focus on college. 3 A levels and a fast track GCSE.. And I was moved onto one of these A levels pretty late, so I'm trying to catch up with that one... And, while doing A level maths, I found out that I actually missed a lot of GCSE material (makes sense, being in a mostly foundation classroom at secondary school) so I have to learn that AND the new material which I don't understand due to a lack of lower-level skill (how the hell did I achieve a 6/B in GCSE?).
I'm trying to get back to learning languages, just as something casual. Languages are something I am passionate about. I'm currently learning quite a lot of Turkish, as well as some French and Spanish (so far, my Spanish lessons are simple, so I know the French words by heart and therefore don't get really confused). Might do Japanese again, too.
You see, I usually play Osu! while 'on break', I guess. So I could easily take that time and turn it into time for language studying, and still play Osu!.
Idk, now I'm very confused with myself.

Sq
keremaru
well uh...
my dad tried to teach me some tongan when i was 9, but they were mostly insults you could bark at people. though he made a powerpoint, so i don't think he was thinking straight.

my second language attempt was some spanish, which indirectly turned into latin because of the class i was taking, both of which i immediately forgot the next year. (though i remember signing up for japanese that year...)

in the same year, i began to learn hawaiian as part of my hawaiian social studies class (since i was still living in hawaii at the time). i remember some songs, but that's about it. just songs that i sang to myself repeatedly in the shower.

but recently (more like in the 8th grade), i started to invest myself into learning japanese, since one of my friends wanted to see if i actually knew my japanese. of course i only knew some, and used google translate for the rest of the stuff that i didn't know (stupid me). so for the past 4 years (almost 5), i've been studying japanese extensively; to the point where i can read some tweets that're in japanese.

16 (edit:) years and 234 days since entrance upon this reality.

your age when you first had a crush
Achromalia
13, or so. the first real crush i had, as far as i'm aware.

she's about 2 years older than myself, and had a this kind of radiant optimism that dwarfed my nihilistic aura.

she's an artist, primarily, but she can play the piano, ukulele, and ocarina, without much trouble. nowadays, she's able to work with digital art and animation fairly well. goddamn, playing the piano was fun around her. she also is likely one of the reasons i'm still alive, as she was one of the people that kept me clinging to life to see what it'd offer.

we're still distant friends as of now, but yeah. unsure if i'm entirely over it, but i'm fine with things as they are, although it would've been amazing had something actually happened, but my depressive, nihilistic, and clingy nature probably 100% creeped her out, i'd imagine. she knows of how i felt back then by now, but not much can be done.

now, we're mostly just creative people that check in on each other to see what we've made and compliment each other's work. we can enjoy each other's company, and considering the experience when i attended her post-grad party several months ago, it seems like i'm still particularly awkward around her, as always. the only person i've felt the most awkward and pleasant around. i don't think i'll ever have that again in my life.
