when our internet router was taken by my mother last year, my dad and i used the public wi-fi in the restaurants we ate in. it may work for you, assuming you have a laptop or something portable that can connect to the wi-fi. many public spaces can include a guest wi-fi connection. some may not work too great, but may do the job.
