lol unlike std, you can't fc a map here without following the rhythm, many pixel jumps have timing windows greater than od10 in std, in std you get 100s and 50s, here you are left with nothing
there are a few reasons why people hate ctb:
1. it's "so easy" - ctb has not as huge playerbase, low star rating maps are overrated, ctb system is trash and there are more and more farm maps.
let's say there is a new player that wants to play ctb. chances are:
-the person gets 150 pp in one day, you can't do it in std where even normal diffs are hard for beginners, says "it's too easy omg" and quits the game
-person gets around 6k pp with xeno as their top rank, they do it in 9k playcount, say "omg I got 6kpp with so little playtime can't do it in std OMG MINIGAME"
2. "not a rhythm game" people - they get good, they learn to play only with reading (you can do it in std and mania too, no rhythm involved, just change scroll speed of your average mania player and check the acc :3 ), they do it in 2 times more playtime than they usually would have, they say it's easy and quit the game
The biggest problems come from pp system being absolutely trash and abusable, person with 9k playcount at rank600 with xeno as their top rank is NOT a good player, person with 150 pp 30 playcount is NOT better than they are in std as well, they can't play ctb for shit, and reaching the top top levels (let's say top100 skillwise) will take them on average much much more time.
Ctb is a rhythm game. Deal with it. Just because you don't have to use rhythm to play, it doesn't mean shit. I don't use rhythm to play in std and mania either,
I can get (and I have some relatively) good acc scores, just mashing is more fun for me, and nothing stops me from getting even better. But I do use rhythm to play ctb. Turn off my volume and see me go from 99.5% to 97% on yomi yori, fail <insert random hard map here> and all that. Even if you mess with my hitsound volumes, I will play much worse. If reading was the only important thing, that would never happen. Also, as there are much less players in ctb, getting high rank compared to std is much easier, however being in the very top is just as hard.
