Have you ACTUALLY looked at the image files?
IIRC YUGEN pause menu buttons are just wide images, with actual graphics on the side of the image

CTRL+O -> Skin -> Open current skin folder

Just add lots of transparency to the left of the buttons. If you want to move them to the left, add transparency to the right.
