Are games included?
Here's a list of my favourite Android apps. All of them are free.
Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube - No introduction necessary.
Springpad - Sticky notes on crack. Never forget anything again, ever.
handyCalc - God tier calculator.
Aldiko - Feature-rich e-book reader. Free version reads EPUB files only.
Angry Birds - Addictive puzzle game.
Google Reader - Decent feed reader.
Google Goggles - Image recognition app. Pretty neat, when it works.
AdFree - Removes ads from websites and other apps. Rooted phones only.
Swype - Extremely fast input method. Closed beta; cracked APKs can be found on Google.
AndChat - IRC client.
Last.fm - Internet radio on the go. If the radio tab won't appear for you, download the unlocked APK from here.

BiteSMS - This is a jailbroken application. It's a replacement of the default SMS application by Apple. It offers much more features such as auto-reply, signature in text, reply without actually opening the application, and so fourth. A must for heavy texters.
Last.fm - Internet streaming radio, scrobbling (for you current last.fm users!), and many other features!
puush - I'm sure this is a given, and a plus if you already have it on your computer!
Installous - Yet another jailbroken application. Put simply, appstore on crack.
Remote - Apple's application for an iTunes remote if you are on Wi-fi. Comes in REALLY handy if you're at home and don't want to get up. Controls any computer w/ iTunes/AppleTV on your network.
2do - A great organizer application for a to-do list. Goes great with the lockinfo plugin.

Dropbox - Sync your files with your pc. Convenient for uploading pictures to my comp
Fruit Ninja - $1 but so addicting, you cut up fruit with your finger...pretty much it
Gameboid Great emulator I don't recommend getting the full version since all you can do is save states with it.
Pandora - Does this really need an explanation. It's a radio, I only used it for christmas though
Winamp - Music player, they got me at wireless syncing
Nesoid - This is the one where you really should get the $4 paid app, the save states really do help given how some games had the password system
oh and get the snesoid too while you're at it (the free one)
Loginer took most of the apps I was going to post but ehse are really worth the look

Some of them are for PC and for phone. Try and experiment these yourself!
GameBooster - Useful app if you have such a bad computer. Kills certain services and idle app while defragging registry on-the-go for some slight jump in performance. My laggy PC which runs osu! can be run at 120fps instead of 60-100fps
Skype - Handy app for calling and texting over Skype or phone. And its way cheaper if you often use roaming!
Recuva - Retrieves back deleted files that you may be "accidentally" delete.
WolframAlpha - Fucking awesome. Trashes my Casio FX991ES PLUS. Comes with a price.

Programmer's Notepad - A better replacement for Notepad.
Picasa - Dumps Windows Photo Viewer
Tiki Towers - Epically fun time-waster for iPhone
