I can't seem to remove that no matter what I do.

Make the files mode-osu-small.png, mode-mania-small.png, mode-taiko-small.png, and mode-fruits-small.png all transparent. Make sure to also do this with the @2x elements if you are using an HD resolution.

They are all transparent

CTRL+O -> Skin -> Open current skin folder

Yeah, and inside there, they are all transparent.

Reload the skin using CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+S
