DREAM, time to do yr fixingNoffy wrote:
Hi, my half of the M4M from #modreqs o/ Hey Noffy!SPOILER[General]
Taiko difficulties shouldn't have the video, it's only half visible on them because of how the playfield is set up. umm, i keep it for now, cuz why not
[Easy]
00:00:093 (1,2,3) - This pattern could be more effective and cute if you make both sliders blanket the object in the center. 30x cuter (3 was brought earlier on the timeline so i could screenshot all at once) Hey, thats good! changed
00:08:005 (3,4) - (4) is so visually close to (3) it makes your pattern look untidy. Plus, it stands out because 00:05:367 (1,2,3) - were all very vertical, while (4) also goes horizontally. http://puu.sh/x6LAM/7e0b6a78e5.jpg you could do something like this for example, still follow the pattern while making 4 special. OKe. changed
00:15:257 (2,1) - While this may be distance snapped, the way 1 is positioned can be very misleading. Generally on easies you want your directions to be straightforward, such as objects after a slider being where it points to. http://puu.sh/x6LIt/eda1d81582.jpg fixed
>00:25:807 (2,1) - It happens other times in the map as well, it can really make it a bit harder to read. I'd actually say to consider a distance snap of .9 instead, to avoid objects so far apart it's hard to fit everything in. umm. i think the distance snap now is oke.
but I would well make the map more polished
00:15:257 (2,2) - unless they are serving some special purpose, overlaps should definitely be avoided in lower difficulties. It can make it harder to notice objects, or just look untidy. fixed
>00:17:235 (2,1) - ^
>00:20:532 (2,2) - ^
>00:23:169 (3,1) - ^ just a few examples, there are more.Oke, fixed them
00:15:917 - Big white ticks are pretty important, and you mapped 00:10:642 (1) - which is similar as a circle head. Having notes mapped as slider ends can reduce their impact. An idea, you could make the rhythm like this, starting at 00:10:642 - http://puu.sh/x6LZ5/6124b787fc.jpg . That way 00:15:257 - 00:15:917 - can both be clickable while avoiding too many circles in a row. thanks for your suggestion applied
00:42:290 (1) - Suddenly having 1/2 rhythms here is relatively pretty dense. I think you could map this part while still making it harder than the rest by using 1/1 circles instead. (and maybe a 1/2 slider for 00:44:268 (1,2) - ) http://puu.sh/x6Mfm/99025183fc.jpg Also a good suggestion! applied
>01:00:752 (1,2,3,4) - ^ changed that
00:58:114 (3) - 01:08:664 (3) - for some reason these sliders are using bezier curves instead of osu's 3point circle curves. I suggest deleting and readding their middle points so that osu will make the sliders look smoother like it normally would. ye, fixed that
01:12:620 (2) - Since you dont really use linear/angular sliders in this difficulty, I'd consider avoiding one like this with such harsh bends. beep applied
Currently this easy lacks in more set patterns, you have some triangles, but most of rest of the positioning feels fairly random. This is especially important in an easy where your rhythm choices for following the song are limited.
00:31:741 (1,2,3,4,1,2) - For example, this has repetition and sliders where their placements related to eachother more. It's pretty nice! I considered the vocal "Hidarite, Migite" to map like this, and it worked well but when you get to 00:38:334 (2,3) - , the transition between the two is rather clunky due to 3 not having any position related to 2, similar to what I mentioned earlier on. changed that, that really looked weird
[Normal]
00:10:642 (1) - this slider is so close to being straight, yet it's not.. Ooo, changed that, maybe grid snap can sometimes be useful eyy
00:15:917 - same thing about mapping downbeats mentioned on easy. In this case you could have a rhythm like this instead, since you use 1/2 sliders in this difficulty. changed
>00:20:532 (1,2) - ^ ^
00:16:246 (2,3,4) - Something like this could be adjusted likeso instead. Having a good amount of space between object can give your patterns more breathing room and help them avoid looking clustered together.adjusted
>00:37:015 (1,3) - ^ this also needs some more space to help your existing pattern look even better. Also, these two sliders could really end on the white ticks too, I know the vocal is on the blue, but there's the subtle drum on the whites they could end on instead, and having sliders of a length like this in a difficulty full of 1/2 and 1/1 sliders can be confusing. Good point, fixed that
00:35:697 (3,1) - beware overlappsss, and this has the problem again of 1 not really following 3 in any obvious fashion.
00:42:290 (1,3) - Total overlaps like this look cleaner, but can still be hard to read at a beginner level. 00:44:928 (1,2,3) - this was pulled off better o: ! use the second pattern to replace 00:42:290 (1,3)
00:54:818 (1,2,3) - I'd move this pattern down a bit, it's really close to the top/lifebar. :O changed that
01:00:752 (1,2,3,4,5) - http://puu.sh/x6MYh/5b2b63173e.jpg you could possibly use a rhythm like this, so that there's a distinction between the vocals and string instrument, and to avoid overloading the player with the relatively dense 1/4s. applied
01:11:960 (2) - imo, should be just a circle. there isn't really anything super obvious at 01:12:125 - . changed still
01:12:620 (4,5,1) - This pattern is a nice idea! I think it could be improved by adjusting it to have a more even visual spacing between (4,5) and (5,1) . currently, it's not which detracts from visuals. .. idea of how you can adjust it. thanks, get improved mapping after 4-5 private mapsets. adjusted
01:16:576 (1) - suddenly increasing the number of reverses to 2 will definitely mess up the player who has gotten used to the 1x reverse sliders you used the rest of the time. Consider reducing the number of reverses on this slider. changed that
You have quite a few cute patterns in this difficulty, like 00:23:829 (1,2,3) - 00:18:554 (1,2,3) - and 00:26:466 (1,2,3,4,5) - , 00:31:741 (1,2,3) - , it's nice to see.Hey! thank you:D Again, be careful how they related to eachother though, as 00:25:147 (3,1,2) - looks messy due to how a.) 1 does not really come out of 3 at all, it goes in the opposite direction, and b.) 2 is really close to 3 visually.
[Abyss no Tabi]
Tons better than easy or even normal, though this difficulty still has some of the things I mentioned in those difficulties about your visual spacing. I suggest you look through it for those. Cuz I seldom play easy/normal maps That needs an improvement mapping
00:09:983 (3) - randomly using bezier instead of circle curve, I suggest deleting and re-adding the middle anchor. added an anchor
00:19:873 (5,1) - and at last, an overlap that works. It makes the two objects look like part of one whole line, so it works a lot better than the accidental ones make the 5 overlap with the object near it
00:21:851 (4,5) - fi x blanket fixed
>00:23:005 (7,8) - ^ ^
00:30:752 (2,3,4,5,6) - Spacing in this pattern feels random, and having it in a curved line makes it look like (2,3) are closer in time than the rest, which isn't the case. Umm, i was thinking of making a increase in drum intensity, bu ill just fix spacing for the first few and keep the jump at the end of this combo
01:00:752 (1,2,3,4,5,6) - vs 01:02:070 (1,2,3,4,5,6) - the (1,2,3) in the second combo linked have higher spacing, but (4,5,6) has the same, which I think took away from the varied spacing patterns. I suggest increasing the spacing for 01:02:730 (4,5,6) - to where it's bigger than 01:01:411 (4,5,6) - so that the second combo is bigger in general. Good suggestion. applied
01:24:323 (4) - I think this should be spaced between the objects before and after it instead of stacked weirdly under 01:23:828 (3) - . ye. fixed that
[Muzukashii]
Intro should definitely be mapped :c mapped them :>
00:13:279 (8,9,10,11,12) - I suggest making this like the pattern at 00:18:554 - , having the four ks in a row lacks emphasis on the changing vocals and song. changed
00:23:499 - feels out of place, doesn't follow a particularly loud or obvious sound. I suggest removing it. Removed that
> 00:28:774 - ^ ^
00:32:730 - Weird note to skip over, maybe add d. Added
>00:33:060 - If you do ^, I suggest having a kkd triple starting at this time, just like at 00:31:741 - except without the finish.
>00:35:367 - , 00:35:697 - the same as the above two suggestions. wait? anything wrong here?
00:37:345 - add d? feels empty, blue tick is a bit harder to play without it being part of a double. added
00:42:290 - the sv change here should have some additional greenlines prior, to help smooth out the transition. similar to how you did 00:29:103 - this part here. tuned the SV change here
>00:49:543 - ^ ^
I'm not too good with taiko SVs myself.. maybe you should ask an expert like Nifty! Hey you are welcome
dont tell him i sent you or he'll have my head
01:05:367 - Maybe have a ddkkD pattern starting here, so it follows the increasing pitch of the instrument, with a finish for the finish in the song. applied
01:18:884 - awkward to skip, maybe d? sure!
01:19:213 - I think you should add a finish here, there's one in the song, and the vocal is really strong. applied
01:27:125 - I dont think having a sv change for a spinner is really neccessary, just makes its approach more confusing to look at. removed that SV change
Thanks for the mod, change logs will be slowly posted up there.
