People care far too much about what other people think. Sure, people are social animals, and others opinions of you are important, but far less so that in the more primeval times when fitting in with the tribe was a matter of life and death. We have moved past primitive forms of collectivism such as that, and the western ideals of individualism, or at least they should insure, a degree of independence from the arbitrary prejudices of other people. "Civilization is the process of setting man free from men". In other words, you have the right to go against the crowd, and that's a responsibility you should take very seriously. Care what other people think - you need relationships to live a healthy life - but only care about what the right people think; surround yourself with the type of people moral people who will be good peers and role models.

That said, I think the aforementioned ideals are being threatened by the new-left social justice movement, so that's is something you should fight against whenever you see it.

The one with ss officer roleplay etc etc was from a "bar thread" that I wanted to turn into a brothel thread. All the people mentioned there were mentioned solely out of fun, not contempt.

As for your quoted text, I still stand by those words. The only thing I'd change is the "if I ever visit" to "when I visit".

Gotta finish the unis before I start travelling around, so I'm not gonna budge from this place for about 10 more months. After that, it's only a question of planning the trips.

Most of the time, no. When nothing is going wrong it's usually straight forward. Some days are busier than others due to workload being different from day to day.

Don't worry, I met a really great and lovely girl in Atlanta I want to see in person (by all the gods she's stunningly beautiful and intelligent, as well as charming), so I'll be coming there first.

On a sidenote, I just found out that based on my more than excellent marks and contribution to my unis so far, I will not have to attend them personally and will be able to continue living like I've lived so far.
I usually don't drink, but this is reason enough to order a 600 dollar wine bottle. Wooooooooooooooooo

Considering the amount of material he has available, I don't think it's a good idea to just point at all of it and say "go look at this." Maybe it would be better to link specific videos you think are pertinent?

EDIT: I'm also not quite sure what your problem with this video is, the beginning, at least, has only been about "how to notice racists." I'd hardly call that a bad thing! Though I'm not particularly fond of the style that this video employs.
Mahogany
The difference is that b1rd considers racism to be a good thing so that's probably the point you disagree with him on
Softwarm
I don't really know just what his problem with that video is so I really can't say I disagree with him, can I? That sounds too much like I'd be jumping the gun.

I'm really not interested in watching a transvestite go on for 20+ minutes of intellectual masturbation in what amounts to "everyone I don't like are fascists"! I've heard that enough times before. Basically anyone who is an ethnic or cultural nationalist to any degree is a "fascists!", and if they deny they're a fascists, well "that's just what a fascists would say!". It's intentionally oversimplifying a complex political issues by lumping together anyone who holds those views with a label like "fascists" or "nazi", and precluding the idea that they might have any legitimate points, and implying that anyone with moderate beliefs is in fact an extremist who wants to murder black people. I'm an ethnic nationalist, but by no means am I a "fascists". In fact I'm the opposite, I'm a Libertarian. His videos might seem plausible and logical enough to validate some pseudo-intellectual's world view, but in reality they contain a lot of subtle fallacies that I could spend a lot of time debunking. But what is the point of that, really.

About Jordan Peterson, all his videos are good, and you can't watch one without watching them all. He has a profound intellect and he is great at breaking apart the foundations of people's faulty ideological constructions with insights in to psychology and philosophy.
DaddyCoolVipper
Honestly, it's an excellent video that discusses modern pro-fascist and/or white nationalist recruitment tactics on social media etc. I wouldn't dismiss it like that.

Also, checking out Jordan Peterson, I've basically seen all of his talking points already. Props to him for condemning the Nazi rally though, I'm glad he didn't side with them under the guise of defending free speech.

But yeah, the video does a great job of breaking down pretty much every single tactic that's used to push centrists and conservatives towards extreme right-wing ideologies.
Aurani
Wait, the video is not troll material? Please don't tell me it was actually done in all seriousness...
DaddyCoolVipper
give it a watch fam

contra makes pretty good videos, they're generally a mix of politics and performance art
Aurani
Yeah, I watched it, that's why I asked if it was ACTUALLY serious, because I took it as critique towards all the tumblr/internet political "experts".
If the person is actually serious about what they're saying, it makes them a sound representative of how you should NOT approach politics - namely spouting random nonsense that not only isn't backed up by any proper evidence, but is full of contradictions and flawed statements that only an abovementioned "expert" would blindly agree with.

I'm sad it turned out to be the latter.
DaddyCoolVipper
I'm.. quite surprised to see such a strong disagreement from you. I'm quite familiar with alt-right rhetoric, and I feel like the video nails pretty much every method of persuasion they have in order to coerce people towards their ideology. The examples should be immediately recognisable to anyone who's seen alt-right propaganda or talking points; the way you dismiss them as lacking evidence is quite surprising, since the evidence should have been clearly visible already.

Could you describe the contradictions or flawed statements? If Contra's communicating their points badly, feedback would be pretty good there

saltwater crocs are a thing, they are the biggest crocodiles even, and can live in non-salt water areas too.

i believe though that they only live in oceania and the southasian isles.

Saltwater crocodiles are common but they usually live in brackish water. Swamps, estuaries, and the like. But damn, that's one large croc.

See if you can figure these out. Note they're more politically rather than geographically inclined.

Maybe you don't notice, but Railey has an obnoxious attitude towards me in general.

I thought that comment was aimed towards me. I'd say my bad, but it's still sorta overreacting, as I'm sure he was trying to joke with you as well.

This seems like a problem that could be solved if we had more freedom

Why haven't I heard anything of the gay being shot in Atlanta 3 days ago...
Idk why people have to riot, the guy wanted to commit suicide - did so. It's not the officers' fault for him being mentally ill.
B1rd
The trans fellow? Yes I saw the video of him getting shot after approaching a police officer with a knife saying "shoot me", after being repeatedly told to drop the knife. People will riot over anything these days.
Aurani
The fun thing is people claiming it's a "utility tool" so it can't justify the shot. Yeah, because in America, I'm sure as shit going to allow this random person who seems pretty fucking deranged to walk up to me, despite being told multiple times to stop, because I believe he might not do any harm to me.
Yeah no, I will not put my life on the line just because he MIGHT be harmless.
