I personally use the mouse. Tried to train myself to use the keyboard but the lack of response throws me off. The click of the mouse let's me know things are going right.

I mostly use the z/x buttons, but I've found that I do better somehow by using my tablet
I've yet to go on some of the more difficult songs, so I don't know whether the tablet would work on those
I figure I should still practice using the z/x and mouse

I've found that it's easier for me to use the tablet lately....perhaps playing osu makes for good tablet practice
Though I have to be careful not to break it when I have to click continuously
(which equates to making a lot of dots on the tablet surface)

My best advice to you would be to use keyboard mainly because it's easier to learn, especially if you just started playing the game. I mean it's harder to use one hand to move and click, than using 2 hands, 1 for moving and one for clicking (well it also depends on how good you can co-ordinate with 2 hands ). Also it will be much easier for you to play streams on keyboard than mouse.

Damn, on secound thought, I have no clue on how some people do streams just with mouse clicks... I just tried it and I got tons of 100/50s and I would always miss when the stream isn't stacked, I would always go out of the circles...

Personally, I change my controls from time to time.
When I first wake up, I use Left+Right mouse buttons,
But when I actually know what I'm doing, I use Z+X
All in all, I find Z+X to be better.

I prefer using X+Y, coz I'm holding my mouse like a baddie. Impossible for me to use mouse to click >:

Before reading this, I didn't actually know you could use the Z/X key in normal mode (I thought it was Taiko exclusive).
Then I tried it... it's a lot more relaxing on my right hand, at the very least. I'll have to go over some of my old maps to see which is better for me. I'm not sure which is better for my hardware; I get the feeling mice in general are more durable for repeated clicks, and I can replace it more easily and cheaply then my keyboard (on a laptop).
Also, how do you hold your mouse? Pointer on left click, middle finger on right? Or pointer on left, middle finger on scroll wheel, ring finger on right?
