1/6 there are totally hearable with 100% speed for me. also 1/4 feels weird due something what they map are empty especially 01:00:499 (6) - in here when 1/6 are low so feels like overmap or wrong snapped. considering this is ctb so 1/6 hdashes are allowed which means 1/6 feels more welcome for me

also ranked mapsets arent perfect. they can be reference but cant be something to say its correct or wrong

what sonnyc says is correct.. since CLSW's diff is highest diff so poidose is 2nd custom name which imo isnt allowed. i know your reason but we should follow the rules as well. https://osu.ppy.sh/s/361591 with pyondose is allowed because your overdose is highest diff here but for this map your diff isnt highest diff

Taking this down because of active discussion.

Just throwing my opinion here, we do not care how other mode mapped that part, it must be snapped according to the music. And we never ever take any ranked mapset as an example.

A 'dose' without 'over' kinda changes its meaning totally, making it totally different from what it could be, while it cannot qualify to be the hardest difficulty, taking away it's ability to use a completely custom name.

Probably kagari's overdose diff can be changed as 'Kagari's Poi Overdose' or something. Anyways gonna update my own diff with fixes soon~

About the snaps, I saw the other major rhythm games like sound voltex, chunithm, ez2ac, and even beatmania IIDX also used simplified rhythm in charts of minor difficulties. It would be not a good logic, but if osu! keeps its rule 'objects MUST be snapped according to music', it shall be not a good idea for the minor players and the game itself. and also it'll hurt the variety of patterns imo.

If the rule isn't good, we can try to fix the rule.

Most of the stuff I pointed was minor and not DQ worth on its own. But the 1/6 thing was DQ worth. So yeah, I should have separated the actual unrankable issue from the rest of the suggestions, my bad there.

As for the 1/4 for 1/6 thing: I haven't seen it being common practice in CtB. Other modes and games might do it, particularly if they have a click/hit component, but, again, not CtB. Also, this isn't a "minor difficulty", it's an Overdose.

It's not an example, I just used them as references to situations where the same thing has been done. I felt the best way to do that was to show the same song, but there are plenty of other places where this concept is used.

I guess it can be considered "overmap" but judging by every post you make on my maps, everything is overmap, but as I said, the simplification of the 1/6 to 1/4 is fine. Instead of following the faint background noise (which most people don't even hear the first time, including me), using 1/4 utilizes a percussion-based rhythm, as well as allows for a simpler timeline. Why throw the player off with a suddenly changing rhythmic structure when 1/4 fits just as well? It's an anime song, not a camellia one. Don't overdo it where there isn't a need to.

Oh yeah, also, "poidose" is pretty comprehensible for anyone who
A) Plays this level of difficulty
and B) has half of a brain

Just more scenarios where we overexaggerate things for little to no reason

The only part where there is a relevant 1/4 sound in that stream is 01:00:310 (4) -. All the rest are overmapped or wrongly snapped, whichever you like the most, since both are wrong. If you want to use the "it's for a simpler timeline" reasoning, then Kagari should have mapped the same timeline as CLSW for this buildup, as its simpler and actually follows the "not faint" sounds.

And I don't see how this being an anime song would give you the leniency to ignore the proper snaps to something.

He doesn't need to use CLSW's timeline, what? Like I said, it's just using a drum-based timeline in order to emphasize a buildup to the kiai. You can call it overmap, you can call it improvisation, you can call it whatever. It's not unsnapped though, and it's most certainly not a bad thing to do. Following CLSW's timeline isn't a bad decision, but keeping the current timeline is 100% acceptable

Also, the anime song reference is because there's no need to overcomplicate things where there is no complexity, like in a camellia song or something technical.

Hello, I'd like to point out that it wasn't clear to me what Poidose was, and I am capable of playing overdoses.
By your implications that I do not have half of a brain, I am heavily offended.

Drum-based timeline? There's only 1 drum triplet there, which I pointed out. The rest is either overmapped or wrongly snapping, depending on how you want to view it, and it's not acceptable.

And this is not overcomplicating things, it's just making things as they should be: following the song.

CtB has always been very specific on the snap, the circumstances are very different in standard and this isn't a situation that is as simple as a wrongly snapped buzz slider.
01:00:215 (3,4,5,6,7,8,1,2,3,4) - sounds clearly off & should be snapped properly.

It's pretty easy to extend the drum through additional emphasis. Let's take a look:

Here, we have a timeline of notes in which there are drum sounds. Obviously, notes are landing on 1/4, and obviously, the drum sounds are emphasized here.

Here's what happens if we make the vocals 1/4 for buildup emphasis.

Alright cool, so with this timeline, there's only 3 notes missing from Kagari's original timeline. But wait a second, then the timeline looks too similar to the rain! There's a perfectly simple solution : extend the line of percussion to create alternative emphasis. Really common and practical to use.

Suddenly, the timeline looks similar to Kagari's original timeline! Through the magic of basic rhythmic knowledge, we created an exact replica of what Kagari intended. Pretty easy to understand that Kagari isn't intending to follow the faint background at all.

An easy fix could be to simply remove 01:00:499 (6) - & 01:00:689 (8) -

This makes it clear in both music and for the player that the vocals & drums are the main focus for the build-up while still being a bit distinct from the rain!

There are currently more ways to bring forth the overdose in the map and there are still more things that are way important to change/fix than this small segment

i was supposed to take an early sleep to prepare for tomorrow's departure back to my hostel so rip me

first thing first, the idea of me having a 1/4 build-up is already been mentioned and shown by ascendance (thanks dear). but then again, zirox did point out some valid concern here regarding with 1/6 snapping, which literally caught me off-guard. i checked that particular part and i couldn't say zirox is wrong here... (and it also partly my fault for not noticing the 1/6 snap). as much as i like to keep it 1/4, i can't ignore the 1/6 unsnapped issue.

with that, i tried to snap that said part accordingly in 1/6 rhythm snapping and this is what i got


i would like to hear everyone's opinion on this particular part... does it follow the 1/6 snap accordingly? is it overmapped? i want everyone who participated in this discussion to give their own opinion on this.

In any case, I still think the 1/4 is better here. You shouldn't have to feel pressured into making it 1/6 and changing how you wanted to emphasize things just because it got DQ'd.

i want to raise my concern on one of zirox's mod on clsw's captivation, which is this :-

It's always easier to put the blame on others. Some self-criticism would do you good.

I consider some of your responses insufficient (and Kagari knows this since he approached me about this map and I told him that). In particular:

  1. 00:15:594 (1,1,1,1,2) - Xinely backed me up that some of these are actually wrongly snapped, and Kagari also acknowledged it as an issue. Keeping something at the wrong snap for the sake of your pattern is completely wrong: had you put it at the correct snap from the beginning, the pattern would have been different and wouldn't play bad.

It's now too much easy thing in CtB 2017, and we should not stuck in the old things." How is "players can't play well" and "oh, it's hard because there's too much easy stuff" an actual reason?
  3. 01:18:822 (1,2,3) - "I intended to make it hard" isn't an actual reason. Not really fond of it, but an HDash between (1,2) would be much more fitting than (2,3) because 01:19:012 - is a drum + vocal combination.
  4. 01:24:708 (1,2) - 01:25:088 (1,2) - "Perfect triplet key-input experience like the other game do, it's my own invention to convert its input to CtB. Even it's hard but this is the very end of kiai and deserved to be hard, also the key input fits perfectly well with its rhythm so why not. Also that's why I added new combo between these to get better clear-able" What other games or gamemodes do is irrelevant (and I don't even know what game you're talking about). I'm checking the latest pending version and this part isn't in the Kiai, so your reasoning of "this is the very end of the kiai and deserved to the hard" isn't valid.

01:03:442 (1,2,3) - I can do well. And the testers which I've requested can do well. Probably it's because of my bad english but I did my best to explain how it works with its vocal emphasis. It's not good to force people who's not good at english to let 'detail' explanation which just because you cannot agree and the mapper likes it. It will hurt the whole game's creativity. Don't you think the patterns are fun?
01:18:822 (1,2,3) - You also didn't say the actual reason. 'more fitting' is the word which is just your perspective. If I think the flow I've used is 'more fitting' then will you accept it? I would say it will be much more fitting than your suggestions because of its drum + vocal combination. The fundamental concept of 'more fitting' is relative and more like an abstract concept so it should be avoided from the reasoning if you don't own this map. I think just you don't want to try to respect each other's differences on mapping style and make every ranked maps as same style due to your post. If it's true don't do that again.

CLSW asked me about 1/8 vs. 1/6 in that section, and I think 1/6 sounds much better. Just gonna post here to clarify my stance

The mappers are trying their best to fix those critical issues you mentioned, and from what you said:

The only unrankable stuff was already fixed by the mappers (based on what they replied), so please take some time to push the map forward, at least some ACTIVE discussion will be good as the mappers know what to do, and this map was DQ because of you started the discussion here, so I think you have the responsibility to continue the discussion.

Kagari has approached me about this mapset a couple of times and all of them I've told him that I don't agree with the responses. In fact, I don't take "there's too much easy stuff on ranked so I made something hard for the sake of being hard" and "english is not my native language so don't make me explain things" as proper responses. Furthermore, CLSW has made some changes that he didn't point out - not even summarize.

Also, it is not my primary responsibility to get the discussion going - the main interested party in getting this ranked are the mappers themselves. And just for your information, I'm in no way obliged to qualify this mapset after the issues are fixed.
