So there's a website called http://topsters.net/ that makes a collage of your top 100 albums and I was wondering if you guys could share yours. It's really fun and nostalgic to create one.

Here's mine:

Updated. I'm not super duper into avant garde at all, no obscure music to be found here.

Inspired by a group I'm in at Facebook.

You have to make an account? That's wack.

How do you even use it? I don't understand.

You don't need to create an account. You only need it in case you want to save your chart to your profile.

Basically you go to the "Top 100" at top and then once you're there, you click a square and then you type in the name of the album at top, which will then show the album cover on the square.

Hope that clears things up :)
EneT
That's so much effort.

Well, you're listing and compiling albums with the purpose of making a collage so that's expected. In my opinion though, since you're going over the albums you've listened to and loved, it's a worthwhile and nostalgic experience.
EneT
Interesting, but it's still a shit ton of effort. I'll make a top 10 for now for my own amusement but whether I'll make a full 100, I don't know.
EneT
I did the top ten thingy; cba for rest. It's not in any particular order, apart from Stripped and Songs in A Minor. Those two albums have been and always will be my top two favourite albums no matter what.

Sanbyoururu
lel. I don't think I even have 100 different albums in my library, let alone 100 favourites. Making a collage was easier than I'd thought tho, so I just made some Top 30 thingy for giggles. Interestingly enough, quite a few of them are also part of your list.

@EneT: I never knew you listen to these kind of genre. Illmatic, Long Live The Kane, Californication, and Section. 80 are ace.

@Sanbyoururu - Now I'm really baffled how I forgot to put Loveless in my collage. It's high up there, I'm sure. Also, am I the only one who likes Whenever, If Ever moree than Harmlessness? and both Low Level Owl over Two Conversations? lol
EneT
I'm a Bboy and I've been a Bboy since I was 8, of course I listen to classic Hip Hop. I'm a complete Hip Hop head, I just don't show it here because not much people on this site like Hip Hop.

if I posted mine I'd get silenced for posting nude.

Loveless is probably my favourite album of all time. It was love on the first listen and it only grew on me even more over time. I don't even know why since I'm not usually that big a fan of shoegaze, but something about Loveless is just magical.
As for Whenever, If Ever, I really like it too. It's just that these "unpolished" vocals kind of tire me out after a while, so I prefer Harmlessness as a whole.
Low Level Owl I and II are both great as well, but since I'm such a sucker for the more poppy songs like Fight Song, Two Conversations is my favourite Appleseed Cast album.

didn't even have 100 albums in my library too anyway. the listing below is actually in order, from most favorite to less.

I tried. This isn't an exact order, of course, since it's really tough for me to rank things like that. Also, my tastes skew towards the mainstream somewhat.

I forgot Yellowcard existed. Thanks.

Hey, I had a Yellowcard album in mine too.

Not Ocean Avenue though, but Southern Air. Pretty great album.

Holy shit, Massive Attack. I love those guys. You should listen to Since I Left You by The Avalanches. ;)

One of my friends actually put on their latest album during a car ride last summer, but I never looked further than that.

Since I Left You is way better than Wildflower in my opinion, still a good album though.

Can't think of 100 (not even 50) albums, so here's a top 20 collage instead
Edit: I just realized, that "Stadium Arcadium" by Red Hot Chili Peppers is missing.. ffs, it's one of my all-time faves

Haven't listened that much to it (it's been a while, since I heard the album..), but it's pretty nice though! My favourite songs are definitely Bodysnatchers (one of the songs that got me into Radiohead), Weird Fishes and All I Need. 15 Step is also really great. What about you?

"tumblrcore" is a great term and more people should use it

also, that list has so many "I listened to this stuff five years ago" bands

Agreed, but I can't stop laughing when I see "tumblrcore" term
I forgot about Depeche Mode and other artists.

No matter how terrible Blurryface is and grating Vessel is, I really liked their Self-Titled a lot. Addict With A Pen and Isle of Flightless Birds are just.. wow.

artists from the 90's and the 00's are basically the best tbh. not like artists from other times are bad, but that particular era is quite a huge turning point in the music industry anyway. from the classics before the 90's to the electro music and some weird rhythms in the mainstream starting to merge in the 10's, rock and roll stuffs + the growth of rap and blues in the era just proved that it is definitely the top one.

by the way why is tumblrcore a great term when it is an insult to the artists though?

Rurree
I think it's more of an insult to those who listen to them. :p

A very prominent example is Halsey, her fans irritate me to death, although I've tried avoiding this kind of mindset..

top 10 is at least 9/10, top 30 is at least 8.5/10, rest are least 7.5/10, no precise order.

Should listen to more music soon, reopened my RYM recently and I've already built up a sizable wishlist/to-listen list.

Didn't like Loveless personally, Slowdive is good but not great, haven't listened to Weighing Souls with Sand - could put that on my to-listen list.

What's that thing under Idle Plot? that's a lot of post rock. also Insen over Vrioon?

Eingya by Helios - it's his best work but it can come off as pretty corny at some points (as is with most ambient/post-rock hybrids). I listen to a lot of ambient/post-rock yeah, though I've been shifting to other genres in recent years. I like Insen way more than Vrioon, Vrioon comes off as too bright for me to enjoy at some points. Its textures are great though, as is with Ryuichi Sakamoto/Alva Noto's other collaborations.

i don't even have a top 100, lmao
maybe because i rarely listen to albums
here's my top 4 for now

also, i don't understand how do you guys like shoegaze. i tried listening to Loveless but i didn't really like it. can someone lead me where to start to really get into the genre?
there's one shoegaze track i like (i'm not sure if it's exactly shoegaze though) called Tugboat by Galaxie 500 though

it grows on you. i admittedly didn't like loveless when i first heard it since it was too "noisy".

decided to listen to it before sleeping one night and it was an unforgettable experience.

well, judging from your top 4, the genre can be really quite hard to get into as it's kind of like the opposite of something you would expect from tame impala lol
JohnnyKnoxville

here's an update on my top 20

yea i heard that shoegaze is really different from etc so you wouldnt easily like it because of all the impromper noise etcetc? i forgot
could u recommend me some shoegaze albums to start with?
Topic Starter
Rurree
kinda hard to recommend because for me, loveless is the most essential shoegaze album out there and should be the first album to be listened to, but since you stated that you listened to it already, i guess i could recommend alcest..

try Alcest's Écailles de Lune.
rHO
to be honest i've actually listened to just some tracks of it, maybe i should give it a relisten.

thanks for the recommendation btw!

edit:
it actually grows on you, omg...
i'm in love with the When You Sleep track from the album now. fucking amazing
