I read about jails in Philippines today, apparently once you get in the actual jail, you are pretty much done for life and that most inmates spend their sentences in some different kind of jail while they wait for their cases to be handled.

Depends on what jail you end up going to. If you're poor af you're forced to stay in the shitty overcrowded ones so yeah, there's a high chance you're done for.
