I fully understood the part about the definition, but I'm still telling you that you're being an edgy fuck if you choose to go with that one. Calling a religion a race is the skinhead definition of the word, unless you supplement it with the word cultural, and even then it's not nice unless you are able to get your point across really well. If you don't trust me on that, go to a random bar in town and try it out. I bet that people won't be delighted to listen to you.
I wouldn't ever call a religion a race. Call it an ethnicity, call it a social group, call it a class even. But don't call it a race. People will jump you for it faster than you can imagine. And if they don't jump you, they will humbly remind you how a religion is not a race (or at least how you don't call it that).
