Any blueprint for a Taiko Controller ?

Hello everyone,

I would like to know if there is any viable Taiko controller blueprint around? I am currently struck with the input capture and I am hesitating between using piezoelectric sensors attached to a wooden circle (for weight/resistance) and mics to capture the input within a drum like container. I do not intent to reproduce perfectly the round shape so any kind of blueprint would work to get the circuit design.
For example there is an older post where the OP used vibration sensors and 4 chunk of wood, it is quite "rustic" for a controller but it is a workable design if there is nothing else around. Also I believe that linking an Arduino to the controller would be overkill as I can use the circuit board of an USB controller to convey the input to the program (input mapping will then be smooth).

Also I do not wish to buy an already made controller as the purpose is for me both to learn more about electronics while doing something that would be greatly useful to me (as Taiko player). I also do not plan to buy a WII controller to retro-engineer it as I seriously doubt I would be able to do so without merely destroying it in the process (and this ain't easy nor cheap to find).

Thank you for the help if any, and I plan to update once I have a definitive blueprint. Have a good day !

PS: Yes AgentYous, this is happening for real ;)
