The Stage 4 boss lives up to expectations, unlike Aya. My thoughts when I was facing her:
"Holy shit, this is the second coming of Marisa."
"Did she just pull an opticamo moment?!"
"How does she have Nitori's moves?!"

Also, fuck you cleaver girl who can turn into a cat. This is almost as embarrassing as running to the POC with nothing there.

EDIT: Apparently the catgirl is pushing a cat cart. Damn thing still looks like a cleaver to me...

Bloody 'effin hell, [Final Boss]. What made you think that Gensokyo was able to sustain nuclear freakin' fusion?!

This is with ReimuA, so go and see Stage 4 again to see the thief in action again.

1cc! woo! Damn replay bug. I somehow suicide on one of her first attacks on the replay, despite the obvious discrepancy in score and Clear.

Props to ZUN for giving the final boss a unique effect (and a second-to-last Spell Card that isn't utterly unfair/hard/etc., even on Easy).

Also, fuck you Kanako/Sanae for giving her the damn idea in the first place.

I've been playing a lot while I didn't have the internet (for like 2 weeks), but I can't be bothered to save replays each time. Once I get a good one I'll post it.
Also <3 Orin, I think I've found my next Phantasmagoria main, although apparently that's not gonna be until at least Touhou 13...
ZUN should make moar Touhou and HIRE SOME GOD DAMN ARTISTS.

Maybe we should have a small SWR tourney sometime... Me, Mafiamaster, AlchemistKeiko, James, neo@lex, and whoever else. I'm on at odd times, though, so that might be a problem.

Apparently clearing Extra for one game doesn't help at all for anything else. Normal still kicks my ass.

To each their own. I keep screwing up when it comes to maneuvering in IaMP, so I just play SWR instead.

And I managed yet another 1cc, this time PCB Easy. I had a messy death in Alice's stage, a bunch of deaths against Youmu, and I still can't deathbomb easily. I almost beat Resurrection Butterfly, too.... Damn it.

You know...I never did figure out how to netplay on SWR. I've got the gist of the gameplay...kinda. (I gotta get more cards for Youmu...)

SA on easy = PoFV on lunatic.
I FINALLY managed to get through stage 6, with some EPIC grazing, since god saw pity and started up cubedesktop and my screensaver in the background, lowering my framerate to just over 9000.

Do you guys think ZUN is going to have a four seasons stint? I mean, we've already gone through autumn, winter, and spring in the last three games. I remember IN not occurring until December, so maybe Touhou 12 will have a summer theme? Hopefully get Reimu un-zombified?

On another note, I've seen a few replays that have Icicle Fall -Easy- moments in SA. Orin's Stage 6 card seems to have a weak spot near her.

To host: Click the first option in network play. Default port is 10800.
To join: You type in the person's ip address in the second option of network play. They have to be hosting before you try to join.
A program called Hamachi is good for finding players who play these games (kinda). It shows an ip address beside their name.

I think I have a problem though, I tried to netplay with AlchemistKeiko but it always times out, same thing happened with another person yesterday even though we had the same version. :cry:

I've always found it interesting that higher difficulties basically require one to move closer to the boss, rather than farther away. It seems backwards, in a sense.

Also: Stage 6 SA:
Orin's Spell Card has a weak spot approximately ten pixels square away from her sprite, where one may stay for the entire duration without being hit. Even on Lunatic. There's also an Apollo 13 moment with Utsuho. One of her normal attacks can be dodged by going into that sphere she's holding. Granted, the extra Graze is essentially not worth it anymore due to the lack of Points to use it on, but it's still interesting.

And let's face it, her power is only useful if you can catch her. Even if you can, you'll immediately use it on escaping from the Bamboo Forest. So it's fairly useless (why the hell did you get lost in the first place!?), and pretty much relegates Tei to Lily White territory. And even that's dubious, as Mokou can do the exact same job, and she isn't a Komachi-level slacker.

Sorry, but bunny girls don't get any extra points from me.


Also, has anyone taken count of how many Touhou-based beatmaps we have on here, compared to other series?

Well, have you seen the things? My mother gets motion sickness easy, I made her watch me play Imperishable Night on lunatic. FUN STUFF. She did get sick.

In which case that severely limits the games. Some puzzles are even out.

I still play them. They just give me really bad headaches if the backgrounds moving in a different direction to the bullets. Which means that imperishable night, which is my favourite, hurts me a lot.

Yeesh. Seriously, if it's hurting you that much, don't play it. I don't know if there's an option to remove the background entirely, but if there isn't, you're just going to take yourself out like that.

In other news, I've finally cleared Hourai Doll. I still can't clear Possessed By Phoenix due to the blue arrows, though. And EX-Keine's first card is still killer for me, although I can manage to dodge two whole waves.

And I need to figure out how to 1cc Normal and survive the entirety of Kaguya's Imperishable assault. Maybe if I go with the Netherworld team... Then I just have to dodge Tei and Marisa. That, and remember to dodge against Reisen.

You might want to look into some of the platform shooters for a bit then. There's some maddening touhou fan platformers like Megamari, I know.

Pro tip: Lossless music. Don't, unless you absolutely love trying to hear things you can't, or you have a 120G sized player.

But I agree with neo@lex's assessment. You don't have a night sparrow's chance at not getting eaten by Yuyuko at getting all of the songs on a 2 GB pod.

...It's been too long for me to remember. I think it was either the Border of Death video or the IN Extra clear.

And I really have to learn to deathbomb if it even looks like I'm going to be hit. I rarely think that I'm going to be hit until I actually am.

A friend named ridley4 told me. I think he died in one of the hurricanes or something. He loved pretending to be reisen (lolwtf) and had red colourchanging contacts. I told him he was nuts, he showed me the games.

Also, SA won't install correctly. I'm getting pissed.

I found out about Touhou from watching a crapload of youtube videos, then I saw Rolled's Max Forever storyboard and decided to find out who the fuck Alice was.
Then I downloaded IN and I was like "Fuck this weaboo trash", then I got to Reisen and I made the mistake of staring at her eyes for a long period of time.
Then I was like :awesome:.

O I C! I find it funny when I play your replay, it shows you running right into a boss or just plain going straight for the bullet and losing a life. The first few minutes are good, but after that, it was just random. Even you were moving around when the people were talking, just... wandering.. around... all up in the top right corner and going back to the bottom and then to the other side. LOL! :lol:

...That's not supposed to happen. Bugged replay maybe?

Try taking out the MAU from the filename then trying again. Or getting a different version.

And make sure the line you get it to shows this:

I just recently unlocked EoSD's Extra Stage, and Patchy and Flandre are kicking my ass. I need to figure out how to clear Taboo "Lavatein," quick.

EDIT: Recent fail at Extra. Watch me very nearly clear Royal Flare and clear Cranberry Trap, and partially figure out Lavatein.

EDIT2: More recent fail at Extra. I make a metric ton of mistakes here - some easily avoided.

I'd say harder, because of two things: 1) You can't see your hitbox at all, and 2) deathbombing is near impossible if you try it like you would in IN. The bullet patterns are the easiest, though, so if you can handle those two points, it becomes easier.

I sort of expected it to be harder, actually, (I play lots of challenge games) so it wasn't all that hard to me, but I've never played anything like it. It gives me some feeling I've never experienced before. I'd say it's awesome. but I'm already awesome. I also love the background music as it puts me in the mood to carefully weave through the bullets. I love this game. I do wish the newer ones weren't so big though, my isp sucks and it takes me like to hours to grab one whilst doing nothing else on teh interwebz.

In random news, I wonder why EoSD runs faster on my older XP desktop than it does on my Vista laptop. Also, I really need to figure out a pattern I can follow so I can cap Sun Sign "Royal Flare".

That and figure out how to 1cc EoSD and PCB with standard lives.

Oh well, cleared easy from th6-11 and normal on PCB (omg my only normal 1CC) but its impossible for me for the other games :I

Remi is slightly easier if you've fought other Touhou final bosses - they stole methods of attack from her. Her first non-card? Eirin's Revival "Game of Life". Her last non-card? Kanako's last non-card (even going as far as including the invulnerable phases). Heaven's Punishment "Star of David"? Basically similar to Eirin's Awakened God "Memories of a Legendary Age".

I don't know how anyone can 1cc EoSD with ReimuA. She deals so little damage, she's slow as hell, and Fantasy Orb outright sucks if you don't need duration.

I play ReimuB, myself. So far, that's the only way I've managed to 1cc Normal. You need to be careful against Patchouli, though.

The TouhouWiki at Poolshmer lists all Spell cards in every game at every difficulty, if you get lost. It has opensearch too.

Well, to see how rusty I've gotten at Touhou since I'm unable to fully utilize my laptop (battery issues, and apparently issues that surfaced because of a shutdown that occurred because of it), I tried to do a pacifist run of Stage 6 of SA. With my crap keyboard that can't read arrow keys well enough. I lost two lives to mid-boss Orin because I was trying to find the safe spot in the attack (as you can tell, I failed miserably). Utsuho's first few attacks passed without incident... Until her second card. Promptly raped. Managed to get to card three. Dead.

...EoSD has a hitbox patch out for the English patch version.

wow.

Now maybe I can clear Royal Flare.

Okayz, so I got a 16 gb iPod nano as an early christmas present. And I have a few albums of Touhou music from DoujinStyle! I'm really interested in vocal and not too crazy about rhythm songs. IOSYS, Silver Forest, COOL&CREATE, Seventh Heaven Maxion, SOUND HOLIC are my favorite out of the Touhou music band thing. Can't forget the awesome Innocent Key band. I've downloaded quite a few of rhythm songs which mean nothing to me so I delete them like Sound Online and euphoricia, although some are actually pretty good like ZUN. Anyone have any recommendations on some other really good Touhou music albums that I should've had downloaded a long time ago or that yall liked? Maybe I could even fill my iPod with only Touhou music, lol. ^^

Here, you should rip all the music from this playlist. Epic stuff, and Touhou related :D

Haha wow, i'm not putting ronald mcdonald sounding music on my iPod, but I will take the first one in that playlist and save it as a video on it because it's Touhou related. Thanks i guess >_><_<

Now that that's out of my system, I would like to express frustration at the Extra stage of EoSD. Even with the hitbox patch, I still can't clear any of Patchy's cards on a regular basis without dying (or wasting a good bomb or two - I use one anyway on Philospher's Stone).

Man, I hope the thirteenth game will be good... and hopefully involve Sanae or some of the SA youkai.

(11/16/08 was when I started playing) Shoot the Bullet was the worst Touhou game I've ever played. I mean there are no difficulties, or even a story mode. Just high scores and best pictures. It's probably just from the link that I downloaded it from where there are already placed scores in each level, which is why I didn't like it as much. I kind of wanted to start a new, but when I delete the score.dat file, it just comes back with the scores unless i'm doing something wrong... But I did like how it was a different kind of gameplay and that has made all the difference. :) Stage 1 Scene 2 was hell for me which took me like 30 minutes to beat. Addicting and fun to play though, just not as good as the others. SWR is the best!

What thirteenth game? There having a thirteenth game? Where's the twelvth one, I haven't seen a 12th one.
