Sometimes when you are playing osu! in public (to show the game to your friends) you run into the issue of some songs having inappropriate backgrounds. I do not mean to say that these backgrounds are wrong or shouldn't be in game but sometimes in public they can be seen as a bit strange and different to what is usually seen on computer screens. I feel the need for a disable background button as one of the options. If you click the disable background button the map will have its background replaced with the default osu! background or if you a supporter the background will be replaced with the background of the skin that is currently selected (much like the start menu).

The disable background button would clear up a lot of misunderstandings between people trying to figure out what the game is because when you play in public a lot of people are more focused on the background then the gameplay if it is 'NSFW'. The background is just a picture, it isn't a 'key' feature of the game. The disable background feature will make you seem more socially acceptable as the backgrounds can be very 'NSFW' and isn't something you want on your screen in public.

People who play osu! or even watch anime are kind of desensitised to some suggestive themes (Yuri or Loli’s). But to others it could seem kind of weird as it is a new concept to them. When they see such content, they could get the wrong image of Osu!

If you just want to kill time or show your friends this new game that you have been playing you don’t want misconceptions about the game arising. You just want to show your friends the gameplay, not the pictures. I think this idea will not take away from the game and will actually help it become more understandable to someone strolling past. This feature would be located in the gameplay section of the settings and once selected would apply for all maps.

I really want this but I'm sure there are duplicates of this thread though.

That's rather a conflict between your decision to put inappropriate backgrounds in your client/skin and to share screenshots from osu!. You should choose what you rather perfer to be honest.

While I do agree with the OP, the wording is a bit wrong IMO.

You use terms "misunderstandings" and "misconceptions." The game is just as much about watching pictures/storyboards/videos of anime porn, including but not limited to, of pre teen children, as it can seem to your friends. If you are worried that your friends get uneasy seeing some of the most disgusting shit you can find in the legal internet, then you definitely should not ever tell them that this game even exist. Because it is a part of this game as much as anything else.

That said this feature could be useful for people that have the problem that other people might against their will roam in the same room. For obvious reasons.

Also I find Stefans post kinda hilarious. I dont think people should have to have a big limit on the beatmaps they can download just because some of the beatmappers think its a good idea to force their commonly unpopular fetishes on others. With this suggestion both the beatmappers and OP could be happy.

I agree with this feature request wholeheartedly: We can already disable backgrounds while in gameplay, via the background dim feature, why not be allowed to disable/dim them at all times?

Linking to a [dublicate] thread which was linked to a thread that got [invalid]ated because of a poor OP which also got linked to a 5yo thread where peppy says he will not give us a feature, which later on he did give us, as he tends to do many times. So by logic this is neither? Also, linkception.
