I think sh1n1 is lamenting the change in ctb dynamic within the last year, the problem for many older players is that ranked ctb maps were a rare novelty in ppv1, ctb players played converts and that was fun. That was literally how ctb was played. Now with so many more ctb specifics being made and ranked, new gameplay dynamics and mapping techniques are only recently (ONLY in the past 1.5 years) being created which alienates some older players. Seeing the game you knew for years change so much in a small period of time can be saddening, especially when people trash older maps or converts because they "aren't made for the game". That shit WAS the game years ago and only further isolates older and newer players. I have no problem with people playing for pp, or even commenting "pp map" on a map which gives pp, as long as they also appreciate the map itself, as most people do.
The problem is when people are trying to map in a way to make pp maps, or mod in a way to make the maps they're modding give more pp without adding difficulty to the map in any way. On multiple occasions I've been told "Please up the SR of the map, but don't increase the difficulty, the difficulty it is now is nice, but the star rating is too low", which is stupid.

Actually some of ranked ctb are like assisted hdash where you don't need to be really accurate with timing. You can growth stars like that and can do 10stars map without any difficulty in them (like https://osu.ppy.sh/s/351863 i fc'ed so easily :/)
And i prefer converted because of 10ms timed pattern and jerky movement.

also, mp is the best way to obtain any kind of ctb / converted maps, ranged from top tier maps to high quality meme maps :^)
