Long story how this problem look and how it show up:
I am owner of 2 x MSI R9 270x OC, both in crossfire. Unfortunely for me, i need to use Windows 8.1 and distributor drivers (from MSI). Here comes my pretty big problem: I cannot use this in Windows 7 with standard AMD CCC drivers. I done some test:
1
- Single card in mobo
- Windows 7 Home Premium x64
- newest AMD drivers (15.7)
Result: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" every few minutes, even without doing anything. Clear OS, only drivers installed. System randomly freezes.
Same problem with second card, crossfire doesn't work.
2
- Single card
- Windows 7 HP x64
- distro msi drivers (14.4)
Result: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" - with exeption that i need to run something what use GPU, system is stable.
Same problem with second card, crossfire doesn't work.
3
- Single card
- Windows 8.1 ProN x64
- newest AMD drivers (15.7)
Result: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" without no reason every few min, system randomly BSOD with "System_Thread_Exeption_Not_Handled (atikmdag.sys)"
Same issue on second card, crossfire doesn't work.
4 Most interesting
- Windows 8.1 ProN x64
- distro MSI drivers (14.4 - 2014.09.22)
Both cards separately - stable without problems, even under full usage (OC turned ON)
Crossfire works perfectly.
Anyone have idea if there is any reason for driver problems above? I am realy tired of W8.1 and honestly, i do a lot exept changing hardware to go back into W7 for non-aero fast OS.
Is there a reason that W7 might not work stable with this setup even on MSI distro drivers?
OS is legal, installation ISO taken from MS site.
Cheers.
